The same Margot von Schlieffen?

[edit]

Pichpich, previous to your February edit, the article said that the film editor Margot von Schlieffen was born in 1930, with this "Hörzu" (a television magazine) entry as a reference. You replaced this with the information for a person with the name Margot von Schlieffen (Margot Gräfin von Schlieffen, Gräfin being a historical title of the German nobility) who was born in 1921 and died in 2014. The reference you gave, a short death notice, doesn't mention her occupation. So are you sure that these are the same person? There could be multiple people with the name "Margot von Schlieffen", I assume. The IMDb entry has probably added the life dates after your edit and maybe even based on the Wikipedia article (there were none in the IMDb entry in 2017), so there is a risk of WP:CIRCULAR. Can't quite remember but I probably took my cue from the de.wiki article. Pichpich (talk) 19:58, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that article has the same issue - i.e. the 1930 information was replaced by the 1921 information with this edit without a clear identification that it's the same person. Therefore pinging Masegand ;-) Gestumblindi (talk) 20:07, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well in this case i contacted by email someone mentioned in the reference (candle page) who did confirm it was the film editor. I did not really check the birthdate however just took it from the death notice.Masegand (talk) 09:21, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Masegand! Although it's a bit of original research then, I think we can leave it at that. So I would also assume that the birth date in the death notice is correct and the "Hörzu" birth year of 1930 is wrong. Gestumblindi (talk) 11:18, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Any relation?

[edit]

Any relation to Alfred von Schlieffen of the German General Staff, author of the Schlieffen plan? It's what everyone would be asking. Valetude (talk) 15:19, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
