Article title[edit]

Should this article be retitled Australian Customs Service National Marine Unit? - it seems to be about the organisation as well as its ships. --Nick Dowling 05:41, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved the article (using the button at the top of the page). Articles don't need their own headings as these are automatically generated. --Nick Dowling 06:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I was trying to work out how to change title, thanks for doing it for me!. User:C8men —Preceding unsigned comment added by C8men (talkcontribs) 06:07, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to help. This is an excellent topic for an article and you've done a great job of setting it up. --Nick Dowling 06:09, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Customs Marine Unit (Australia)Customs Marine UnitCustoms Marine Unit is currently a redlink, and a Google search indicates that the title is a uniquely Australian one. As a rule, we don't preemptively disambiguate article titles; while "Customs marine unit" may be potentially ambiguous, Customs Marine Unit is an agency name used only by this one. Move page - suitable name - no longer customs[edit]

In July 2015, Customs was renamed to Australian Border Force (ABF). Page name needs Customs removed. The unit name is the Marine Unit. Suggestion of Marine Unit (ABF) . @Nick-D: You've done edits and moved in 2007, what do you think? --Melbguy05 (talk) 14:40, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Makes sense to move it I agree, although the abbreviation "ABF" probably doesn't work as a disambiguator because it itself is likely to be ambiguous to the bulk of our readers. Some possibilities off the top of my head might be Marine Unit, Australian Border Force or Marine Unit (Australian Border Force) (although I'm not up on current policy so there could conceivably be issues I'm not aware of with these too). Anyone else? Anotherclown (talk) 00:13, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the second of Anotherclown's suggestions would work best, and agree that a move is overdue. Nick-D (talk) 00:18, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fleet/Equipement[edit]

Modified the list of active ships into a format consistent with Navies and Coast Guard, also added the info panel and current commander. These areas still need a lot of work but it's difficult to find reports and public information on the marine unit, information should be added as it comes to light. There was some talk of the Arafura-class offshore patrol vessels being transferred to ABF if they fail to meet RAN's needs [1] which should be monitored. More info on specialized equipement used by the unity needs to be obtained to make the article more complete. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.83.112.121 (talk) 12:31, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've add some more info to fleet section, including small boats and some images. Some ships are still missing images and all are missing their Pennant number. It's difficult to find sources for specific training marine officers undergo but ideally this should be added. SNITZ01 (talk) 07:48, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
