English source
[edit]There is what I assume is a Czech Slovak language source in the article, can anyone find an English version of this? John Hayestalk 16:47, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- I doubt that Martin's career in Trenčín and Zenit had an extensive coverage in English language sources :) Jhony | Talk 12:20, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- This is true ;) John Hayestalk 00:20, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Name
[edit]- So is he Škrteľ or Škrtel? Anyone know? Weenie beenie (talk) 18:31, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Have you seen any sources saying anything other than Škrtel or Skrtel? I certainly haven't. John Hayestalk 00:21, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, he is Martin Škrteľ. We can take a look here. ECanalla (talk) 14:24, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- The LFC website confirms him as Skrtel - per here // F9T 12:35, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- He is Škrtel or Skrtel. Jhony | Talk 15:37, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Refs
[edit]Do they need to be set out like that, surely a link to the page suffices. Londo06 (talk) 13:28, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
This Chuck Norris nonsense
[edit]What's this all about? Just embarrassing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.7.158.57 (talk) 23:01, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Page move?
[edit]I've never seen it in the press as "Martin Škrteľ". Neither is it what is printed on his shirt. I propose that we move it back to Martin Skrtel and start the article as follows or simlilar:
"Martin Skrtel (Czech: Martin Škrteľ) is a blah blah blah..."
What does everyone else think? Sillyfolkboy (talk) 15:06, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, following the logic of the Dirk Kuyt argument, i agree. I usually try to keep out of diacritic arguments, but i'm already involved in this one. --GedUK 15:49, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
He is Martin Škrteľ, since it's a Slovak name from a guy who was born in Slovakia. This source even shows a picture of him playing for the national team where we can read "ŠKRTEĽ". In my opinion, this should be moved. And just putting Martin Skrtel would be wrong, since that's the way they write his name in the countries they don't have an "Š" or an "Ľ".
