Harrison presidency

[edit]

So, why did Harrison win the election? What issues will frame his presidency? What campaign promises / statements did he make? Which faction (if any) is he leaning toward? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.202.11.180 (talk) 19:26, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

People's dissatisfaction with Keishnick is the main reason. He leans toward the more Conservative faction. BenW (talk) 03:37, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if this type of dialogue is appropriate here; however, perhaps his statements in official periodicals of the LCMS might be discussed in the article itself.--Drboisclair (talk) 14:31, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To answer the question raised by this topic, the chief issues upon which Rev. Harrison was elected can be summed up this way: (1) concern for the theological integrity of American Lutheranism as a whole and of the Missouri Synod in particular, (2) the mission of the Church to carry out the proclamation of God's Word to our world and to carry out works of mercy to those in need, and (3) to open dialog between various factions within the Missouri Synod with the goal of bringing about consensus and unity. These three issues are often summed by his current motto: Martyria (Witness), Diakonia (Mercy), and Koinonia (Life Together).
