International Recognition[edit]

There are 243 recognized countries on this planet. Unless someone can provide citations for all countiries except Morocco recognizing Melilla as part of Spain, I'll remove it again. The text is too broad as it stands:

"Morocco has objected to the construction of the barrier, as it considers Melilla to be occupied Moroccan land, and has sought full devolution of the territory since 1975. All other countries consider Melilla to be an integral part of Spain."

Furthermore, an "integral" part of a country is one absolutely necessary to maintain its sovereignty and economic status. More citations are needed for this sweeping generalization of Melilla's importance.

You are grabbing the stick by the wrong end here. If anything, you should find citations for the opposite, if you like to add "except X,Y and Z". Melilla and Ceuta are indeed integral parts of Spain (refer to Autonomous Communities), as the territories are not considered a colony or oversea territory (i.e. Gibraltar). I don't have any sources for what you ask; I don't care to track them down either. I'm not adding any claims here -- I just want unsubstantiated claims removed. I'm not the one making claims that this land is "integral" to Spain, but the fact that you're a Spaniard and are quite uppity about this, reverting these edits, screams POV violation. Melilla is an integral part of Spain. It has got the same rights as any other region. It is considered an Autonomous City, which is basically the same as an Autonomous Community. This is verifiable by all means. Forgive me if I misinterpreted your edits but there have been previous unexplained text removals on other related articles, sometimes using misleading summaries. This debate makes no sense, of course are these cities integral parts of Spain since they belong to the country. There is nor a declaration of independence neither sees the Government of Spain these territories in a different light than its other states/regions. Until the 1990s those regions were even part of a Spanish State!!! So stop arguing. And before somebody says I would be a Spanish Nationalist: I am not from Spain and have absolutely no personal interest to influence or manipulate facts whatsoever!!! Regards Kai from Germany
