Melinoë goddesse

[edit]

What is her story? 2600:1700:C530:40D0:A948:F6CC:395B:733C (talk) 23:15, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pop culture

[edit]

There was an RfC on adding the Hades video game to Zagreus with the consensus that the game series was notable enough for it to be included. Melinoë is the protagonist of the sequel and is getting similar coverage in the media so it should be included here for similar reasons. Sariel Xilo (talk) 17:17, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology

[edit]

None of the presented etymologies is remotely convincing. I would rather suggest keeping νοῦς as the origin of the second part of her name and leaving the first unknown, because there is no known Greek stem μηλι- that would yield μηλινόη. It simply is a name that we don't understand. Imbricitor (talk) 14:22, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The latter part of that section, which had recently been added by an IP, was a near identical clone of information on Theoi.com, a site which often contains some misleading or otherwise problematic information, and doesn't qualify as a WP:Reliable source; I've removed those sentences. The first part, though, apparently originating from one Herbert Bannert in an RE article, is considered at least convincing enough by Morand for her to mention it twice, so, while not exactly critical information, I don't see an issue with it being retained here. – Michael Aurel (talk) 12:43, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
