ITV Regional Companies Official Name changes[edit]

On 29 December 2006, the following ITV companies officially changed their names:

See http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk and search under "ITV" - URL linking is not supported. So that signalled the death knell for HTV then. Marbles 19:50, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

moving?[edit]

move the article to ITV Meridian as that is its offical name?Mark999 21:09, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

As per WP:UCN, no it would be wrong to move Meridian Broadcasting to ITV Meridian. It has existed for 13 years as Meridian Broadcasting Ltd and 11 months as ITV Meridian Ltd. /Marbles 10:29, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moved[edit]

Why has this article been moved to ITV Meridian? It should remain as Meridian broadcasting: this was decided a long time ago so why has it changed? Also it is good practice to discuss moving an article before doing so. Rafmarham (talk) 12:06, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I am unsure about the use of the ITV Meridian station logo from 1999. By not including the background or the general look it is inaccurately conveying what the 1999 Hearts look appeared as and so seems innapropriate. I therefore believe the image needs changing to the real 1999 ident with hearts in background or removed entirely - it is misleading plain and simple. Rafmarham (talk) 21:10, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will remove this image as it is inaccurate and nothing has been done to alter this innacurate representation. Rafmarham (talk) 09:47, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edits made 27/3/12[edit]

Hi, I have made some major edits to this page to hopefully improve. It had occured to me that this article was not longer near a B as large areas of Meridian's 'story' was missing. I have therefore added some details about Meridian's 1991 bid and incorporated the ownership into the history section. I have also added as much detail as I can find about Meridian's other studio bases outside Southampton/Whiteley. I also cleared up the sub-regions section as this was difficult to understand for outsiders and have moved some information about programmes into that section. I have also added references to the Identity section. I believe that this article has been greatly improved. Rafmarham (talk) 16:44, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Maps of ITV regions[edit]

@Davey2010: I note you have been removing every map of an ITV region, from this and lots of other articles, with the explanation "not needed". I find this puzzling. Every article about a BBC region (e.g. BBC South) has had a map for the past five years, without any objection. And it's quite normal for there to be maps in Wikipedia articles associated with a geographical area (e.g British counties, local government districts) or place (e.g. towns, villages). I think it's very useful to have a map at the top of an article because it allows the reader to see, at-a-glance, the area that the article refers to. Pictorial information can be absorbed more rapidly than text information. It is also the case that the boundaries of the ITV regions aren't always where you might expect them to be from the name alone. They're not aligned to any other type of region.

Looking at the extra reason you gave in your first removal (diff) "rm map as not need here - could be inserted in the article tho", is your real objection that the maps are in the infobox, but you wouldn't object to them elsewhere in the article, or are you opposed to them altogether? -- Dr Greg  talk  22:15, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dr Greg, Personally I only object to them being in the infobox - IMHO these would be far better suited in the actual article, Ofcourse another article having a map is essentially a OTHERSTUFFEXISTS arguement but if you turn the tables the maps have been in a few or more articles for 3-4-5 years seemingly without any problem so in that respect there's not really a good reason to revert,
I've self reverted on all articles anyway :), Cheers, –Davey2010Talk 22:36, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
