Meykandar and Meykanda

[edit]

Hi South Indian Geek, Thank you very much for improving the page. However change of the name from "Meykandar" to "Meykanda" is quite unusual. It is plainly a Tamil name which cannot be ended as Meykanda. You mentioned about ngram and gbooks. Alhough I have doubts in the accuracy of the search results of ngram following the conversations on requested move of Lingam to Linga, I did a quick check which brings up Meykandar over Meykanda. I got 1,370 results for Meykandar at google books while it was 1,340 for Meykanda, adding "Did you mean: Meykandar".

I'm not aware about which Encyclopedia of Hinduism you are talking about but this Encyclopedia clearly tells it is "Meykandar". And kindly note that the term Meykanda can be also used mentioning "Meykanda Sastras" in which it is not only mentioning the name of the philosopher but ambiguously indicates the meaning (Perceived the truth, here truth is Saivite Wisdom) of his name also. And no anywhere you can find a Saivite text named as "Siva Jnana Siddiya" It is obviously Siva Njana Siddiyar. Same rule applies in the case of Arulnandi Sivan or Arulnandi Sivacharya.

According to these reasons, I move the page into its previous name and I change the terms within it. If you find that Meykanda is more convenient than Meykandar for this page, please specify the references. --5anan27 (talk) 20:53, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
