Speculation
[edit]This article presents several pieces of information as if they were fact and not speculation. There is no direct evidence that Sattler attended the University of Frieburg. The year he left the monastery is probably 1525, not 1523, and there is no knowledge of precisely when he married his wife.
This article would benefit greatly from recent studies of Sattler's life, particularly:
Arnold Snyder. The Life and Thought of Michael Sattler. Scottdale, PA: Herald Press, 1984. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.106.4.94 (talk) 02:58, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- The information I've read is somewhat conflicting, so if the more reliable data says he left in 1525, OK. What I'm seeing seems to pretty consistently say that Sattler was married by the time he left for Zurich in 1525, though. I'll try to clean things up a little. Joachim of Zollern
[edit]Some facts on Sattler's arrest aren't matching up. Most glaringly, this article says Sattler was arrested in 1527 by Joachim of Zollern, but Joachim's article says he wasn't born until 1554. Joachim's article also says he converted to Lutheranism fairly early, but GAMEO's description of Sattler's arrest describes him reading charges against Sattler that would apply equally against Lutherans. Something is very wrong. Daask (talk) 12:09, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
- Note: The GAMEO article appears to be unchanged from Bossert, Jr., Gustav; Bender, Harold S.; Snyder, C. Arnold (1989). "Sattler, Michael (d. 1527)". In Bender, Harold S. (ed.). Mennonite Encyclopedia. Harrisonburg, VA: Herald Press. Vol. 4, pp. 427-434, 1148; vol. 5, pp. 794-795.. Daask (talk) 12:28, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
