Accent
[edit]I'm not really sure why there is an accent on his name, inasmuch as it is not normally used in the references I have seen about him. If there is no objection, I will change the title of this page to plain old Mike Hernandez. Yours, GeorgeLouis (talk) 15:06, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
- A more detailed analysis of sources would be nice. What are major reference works about him? Do they use diacritics? Did he use them himself? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 18:22, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, the major reference work for Los Angeles is the Times, and it does not use the accent, even though it is easy enough to do on this website: http://articles.latimes.com/keyword/mike-hernandez. I have never seen the name with an accent in the United States, so I am going to change it. Sincerely, your friend, GeorgeLouis (talk) 14:45, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Mike Hernández → Mike Hernandez – I have never seen Mike Hernandez's name with an accent. The major reference work in Los Angeles for this sort of thing, the Los Angeles Times, does not use an accent, even though it is perfectly possible to do so with modern typography, and the website does not use one either. http://articles.latimes.com/keyword/mike-hernandez. Normally Spanish names do not take accents north of the border. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 14:53, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
- Support. Use of the accent at Wikipedia is original research and not supported by sources given. — AjaxSmack 01:39, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
