[edit]

There should be more space devoted here to Tydings's racial views; in his time, Tydings was an well known racist and white supremacist, who spent most of his time in the Senate blocking proposed civil rights bills. 129.97.58.55 23:32, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The committee published a report denouncing Joseph McCarthy and his claims as a hoax. When he ran for re-election in 1950, McCarthy's staff distributed a composite picture of Tydings with Earl Browder; the former leader of the American Communist Party he had never even (?) before July 1950.

Never even what? Met? Seen? Heard of? Incomplete sentence.

If you want to talk about it, put up some cites. Mangoe (talk) 18:06, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am working on integrating into the article material about Tydings's support for Jim Crow. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.95.1.11 (talk) 14:28, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Browder. again

[edit]

I've removed the follow passage, put in from an anonymous user:

The interaction, qua questioning, of Browder by Tydings during the Senate hearings goes to the core of this political advertisement and based on the transcript of the hearing was not misleading (See M Stanton Evans, Blacklisted by History, 2007)

I'm having trouble even following this sentence, but at any a vague cite from a 670 page book isn't good enough, never mind the controversies surrounding the source. I'm willing to try again, but with clearer text and a page number, thank you. Mangoe (talk) 16:32, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-Catholic?

[edit]

Is it true that he was anti-Catholic? I read somewhere that he hated Catholics. If so, this should be in the article. 2602:306:BDA0:97A0:466D:57FF:FE90:AC45 (talk) 04:12, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to find any evidence for this but have not as yet. If I do, I will include it in the article. 137.95.1.11 14:31, 8 December 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.95.1.11 (talk)
