Linking[edit]

  • note conventions on linking, including linking out from the word when it is first used e.g. Saronno. See: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Linking
  • overlinking e.g. Europe, etc.
  • duplicate links e.g. Meissen
  • check the convention for linking out direct to other websites e.g. for Robustelli.

Room 8 - Contemporary Porcelains

It's not an actual room. Contemporary porcelains are everywhere in museum, in the hallways and in different corners.

Choosing the paragraphs and dividing the tasks[edit]

Hi guys, I think we should organize our tasks and decide the paragraphs that are going to be part of the page DanieleFra04 (talk) 17:39, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@DanieleFra04: Note the Talk guidelines at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Talk_pages . Talk is for page topic discusion, not educational project team planning. Note that the 'Hi guys' style is inappropriate and meaningless to other editors.Limelightangel (talk) 20:06, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Issues[edit]

I am working on localisation and I received a message in red "Lua error in Module:Location_map at line 410: Malformed coordinates value.". I don't know how to correct my mistake.

I think I have solved the problem --Candicecousi (talk) 12:21, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Structure[edit]

Pages do not have a section header for 'Introduction'. The 'lead section' should be created first to avoid duplication of content and links later in the article. The summary introduction or 'lead section' is explained at: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Lead_section Limelightangel (talk) 15:19, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar[edit]

  • 'museum of ceramic Giuseppe Gianetti'
  • 'Stand out among the Italian manufactories'
  • '65 pieces regarding European manufactories.'
  • 'The oriental section, instead,'
  • 'comprises the primary nucleus of approximately 230 Milan's pieces '
  • 'The Museum collection is divided into three different sections '
  • 'but has aslo a circle garden '
  • 'for the Western market ' (missing punctuation)

I changed and corrected sentences. LouiseRnlt (talk) 22:45, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Poor grammar to correct: "Noteworthy is the handrail of the staircase leading to the Museum's second floor, which was meticulously crafted following a design conceptualised by Carla Biffi, one of Nina Biffi's sisters. Giannetti's relatives, who owned the building from 1936, decided to donate both the villa and the collection in 1994, after a long and precise classification of all pieces, to Fondazione COE for the Museum to be built." References[edit]

  • text number for ref. 1 is in the wrong place
  • ref. numbers for 3 and 4 are in the wrong place
  • all 3 refs. are incorrectly formatted with incorrect use of the Cite Website template.
  • refs 1 & 2 are duplicates and need use of refname in the cite template to resolve. Use Refname in the Cite template to avoid creating multiple references to the same source: "Often, you will want to use the same source more than once in an article to support multiple facts. In this case, you can click Named references in the toolbar, and select a previously added source to re-use." See:Help:Introduction_to_referencing_with_Wiki_Markup/3
  • Ref. 3 text needs to be in correct case, not all UPPER CASE; and check Help for referencing non-English sources (language/translation)

made references more consistent and added many missing sources to all subsections Fdrc10 (talk) 13:21, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Draft Page title[edit]

'Museum of Ceramic Giuseppe Gianetti' is the wrong page title for this English page. It is grammatically incorrect (Ceramics', not 'Ceramic'). It does not use the popular English name for it. Nothing comes up in searches for this page title. It's also spelt differently in the draft content ('The Museum of Ceramics "Giuseppe Gianetti"'). It could be better as any of the following, and you need to check to define the correct English page title:

  • G. Gianetti Museum of Ceramics, Saronno
  • Museum Giuseppe Gianetti (Google Business English listing)
  • Gianetti Museum of Ceramics
  • Museum of Ceramica Giuseppe Gianetti
  • Museo della Ceramica Giuseppe Gianetti (Italian webite & Facebook pages)
  • Museo Giuseppe Gianetti (on English Wikipedia page for Saronno)
  • etc.

Once this is done, you need to: 1. create a new draft page with the correct page title 2. copy the existing markup to the new draft page space 3. copy the existing draft talk page markup to the new draft talk page 4. place the appropriate 'mark for delete'/'speedy deletion' tag on the 'old' draft page - see help resources. Limelightangel (talk) 20:55, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help ! I did the necessary work on the old draft page --Candicecousi (talk) 17:25, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox[edit]

There are some mistakes in the infobox. Firstly, "Italie" should be changed to "Italy." Secondly Varese is not the city where the museum is located, but the province, so it should be changed to "Saronno" or "Sarronno (VA)." Finally, the correct coordinates should be 45°37'30.1 "N 9°01'58.3 "E . However, I recommend that you double-check these coordinates before making any changes to ensure their accuracy. Thank you. LIUC1Irene03 (talk) 23:02, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help ! I have modified "Italy", the city where the museum is located and the geographical coordinates (after checking them). I have also changed the name of the museum, which was grammatically incorrect. --Candicecousi (talk) 10:04, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I saw that you made the changes to the infobox, but since I changed the template from building to museum the old errors remained, Would you be able to remodify them? Thanks! LIUC1Irene03 (talk) 10:14, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Everything is correct now. LIUC1Irene03 (talk) 16:15, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Review 4/12/23[edit]

  • the page needs the addition of correct See Also, External links and Categories. See:
  1. Help:Categories
  2. Wikipedia:External_links
  3. Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#"See_also"_section
I added some categories, the External links and the See Also section LIUC1Irene03 (talk) 17:59, 5 Dicember 2023 (UTC)
  • check and consistently apply conventions on the use of bold and italics. e.g. 'Aldo Marcenaro'; Aldo Marcenaro; etc. See: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Text_formatting
  • the page needs better images to support the text content, including of the specific exhibits described.
  • images: improve image captions to state where the image is, what it is and how it is relevant to the page. The images are located on WikiCommons, visible to search engines, and need to be clear to users not seeing them on a specific page. In the case of 'Oriental Porcelain', consider the caption: Part of the 18th century Oriental Porcelain collection, Museum Giuseppe Gianetti, Saronno, Italy - and adopt a similar approach for other images when added.
Changed the captions and made them consistent Fdrc10 (talk)
  • 'A few of works inside the museum' needs a much better section heading. Look at similar pages. Consider 'Significant Collections'; 'Permanent Collections' and similar.
  • consistently and correctly use English translations for Italian phrases/objects. Check the conventions. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Foreign_terms and the links on this page.
  • check, correct and make consistent all date and number formats e.g. 'April 09th 1950'; 'on January 29th 1887'; 'eighteenth century'; '18th century'; '18th-century'; 'the nineteenth century,'; ' late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries'; etc.
I have made the changes so that the dates on the page are consistent --Candicecousi (talk) 10:53, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help. I also added the template "Use mdy dates" Template:Use mdy dates LIUC1Irene03 (talk) 14:34, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • grammar/tense: 'He is a collector'; 'The museum of Ceramics Giuseppe Gianetti'; 'who is Giannetti's wife,'; 'In 1936, the descendants of Giannetti, proprietors of the edifice, resolved to bestow both the villa and its amassed collection to the COE Foundation in 1994.'; 'was built in 1930s'; 'one among Nina Biffi's siblings'; 'involving group of authors,'; 'are accounted for. '; '230 Milan's pieces. '; 'the inventories of the manufacture,'; 'manufactories';
I made the changes --Candicecousi (talk) 09:28, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • style: 'This generous act'; 'forging links between schools and territories in Italy and across the globe.'; 'Furthermore,'; 'not only committed to'; 'but also embarks on '; 'Emerge distinctively amongst the realm of Italian manufacturing,'; 'while the remaining four'; 'notably';'we can see '; 'graciously assembled'; 'a modest yet luminous space bedecked with'; 'exploded, captivated by'; 'extraordinary'; 'In no affluent salon in Milan, Genoa, or Venice were Chinese or Japanese ceramics missing.'; 'a skillful interpreter'; 'As our collection attests,'; 'undoubtedly stand out,'; 'undoubtedly '; 'infusing new vitality'; 'However';
  • structure: History could be better sub-divided in to clear periods/phases e.g. Giuseppe Gianetti and the Origins of the Collection; The Museum Villa (does/did it have an orginal name?); The COE Foundation and the creation of the Museum - or similar?
Thanks for your help, I have made the changes. LIUC1Irene03 (talk) 17:02, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • potential missed link out: 'East India Company'
  • incorrect external link out from text to G. Robustelli. See: Wikipedia:External_links
  • Museums sections: some of this content could be removed as not specifically related to the page topic and belonging on other pages. It could be retained if it was linked more explicitly to the page topic in terms of it being a summary of the information and history being described in each room.
  • remove this content, which is better as a signed Talk page post/discussion: : "it's not an actual room. Contemporary porcelains are everywhere in museum, in the hallways and in different corners."

Translation into Italian[edit]

I have added the translation of the names of the works into Italian in the table in the "Exhibition" section. I can't remove the link on the word "italian" which refers to the wikipedia page, which causes over-linking. Can you help me solve this problem? --Candicecousi (talk) 19:04, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed the problem by adding a column for the original names of the works LIUC1Irene03 (talk) 16:59, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Review 11/12/23[edit]

  • the section on the Library and the descriptions of the exhibits have no sources
  • do the descriptions of the exhibits need their Italian names in the text (as in the table)?
  • missing links out to Saronno and trompe-l'œil
  • 'a collector specialized in ceramics from the century.' - which century?
  • 'from the "India Company." ' or from the East India Company?
  • add Categories Limelightangel (talk) 14:21, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I add it. --Candicecousi (talk) 10:24, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • refs 3. & 6. have multiple and incorrect links out to other wiki pages; ref. 1 author is 'Museo della Ceramica G. Gianetti'; etc.
  • 18 of the 32 references are to the official website, and a further 2 to museum sources
  • See Also is incorrectly formatted: 'See Also Ceramic art – Decorative objects made from clay and other raw materials by the process of pottery'; and, could have broader in See Also links used
