The result of the proposal was moved. --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 14:07, 30 August 2009 (UTC) Nawab Kapur Singh VirkNawab Kapur Singh — "Nawab Kapur Singh Virk" is known as "Nawab Kapur Singh" in all the books I have checked so far. This is his title. He is known occaisionally as Nawab Kapur Singh Singhpura (His affiliate Misl name), but in 99% of cases as Nawab Kapur Singh. What I suggest is all links such as "Nawab Kapur Singh Virk", "Nawab Kapur Singh Singhpura" all be linked to a retitled article called "Nawab Kapur Singh" (which is his correct title and used in all references in books, and not to "Nawab Kapur Singh Virk" (which is an incorrect title. Thanks --Sikh-History 10:38, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article needs references added in order to support the current name, let alone the proposed one. I see that you've linked to a Google book search, but I'm in no position to evaluate whether or not those results are meaningful. If any of them are, then they should be listed as references in the article in some manner.

    Here are some refrences:
Are a few books that list him as such. Not one I have come accross lists his title as Nawab Kapur Singh Virk. Thanks--Sikh-History 09:25, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to have misinterpreted what I was saying somewhat. I wasn't asking you or anyone else to provide me with references, as I'm simply an impartial observer who has come here in order to provide a WP:3O due to the movereq. The article is what needs references, not necessarily specifically for the name issue, but in order to provide general verifiability.

Just a terminology point: A "third opinion" is an outside opinion in a dispute between two editors, so technically you're providing a second opinion here (also, not all third opinions are WP:3O, since that refers to a specific Wikipedia process). Anyway, looking at the Google Books search it seems obvious that the most common name is indeed the proposed title. Any idea where the "Virk" part comes from? Is it an alternative name, a title, or a pure misunderstanding? In any case, I can support moving this to Nawab Kapur Singh based on the evidence above. Copy/pasting[edit]

I'm fairly sure this article comprises mostly copy/pastes from unreliable websites, notably sikhwiki & the article created on jatland.com by a prolifically dodgy former Wikipedian called Burdak. - Sitush (talk) 16:21, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
