– Primary meaning, a breif look into what quality internet content show as Osorno makes it clear it is the commune and town in Chile that is the primary meaning. Osorno la Mayor in Spain is tiny in comparison with Osorno in Chile and already distinguished by "la Mayor" in its name. Much as in the case of Calbuco and Calbuco Volcano and Villarrica and Villarica Volcano, the sole name means the settlement and not the volcano, in both Spanish and English usage, hence the city and commune of Osorno is a primary meaning relative to Osorno Volcano. In this there is also an argument of consistency in naming volcanoes and settlements. Further, Osorno Airport, Osorno Pilauco Airport, Osorno Básquetbol and Provincial Osorno are all relative to the city in Chile. It is worth noting that Spanish Wikipedia, where there is more scrutiny on these topics, have already the city and commune as the primary meaning for Osorno. Oppose, and keep DAB at base name. The volcano gets more page views, and notwithstanding that there are a lot of similarly important pages that makes it hard to say what is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.--Ortizesp (talk) 17:42, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: 1) Viewcount is on of volcano articles are not a realiable metric to decide what's primary topic as it is influenced by the (amazing) work of Jo-Jo Eumerus and others who have made 50+ South American volcanoes good or featured articles. Note that Andean volcano articles directly link with each other through the Andean volcanoes template. 2) Scientific literature in English is in line with ordinary Spanish usage in that Osorno (volcano) is mostly spelled with a "volcano" afterards (before in Spanish). This can be checked in Google Scholar [1], [2], [3]. 3) Naming volcano articles need consistency. Having the volcano as the primary would be contrary to what is done for other volcanoes named after town and cities in Chile such as Calbuco (volcano) where the primary meaning is the town of Calbuco and Chaitén (volcano) where the town of Chaitén is the primary meaning. Google Scholar is flawed choice as author surnames are better integrated in it than placenames of non-English speaking countries. It is ridicuous to think of that the existence of a few university professors would be reason enought to deny the city of Osorno that nameplace Osorno.
