Date of Establishment

[edit]

Many Greek football clubs like to claim that they are "one of the oldest and most historic" clubs in Greek football, however, if you dig a little deeper, you find that they cite the foundation date of their Multi-Sport club. In reality, however, you find that their football clubs were formed much later. Was the football department of Panionios formed in 1890 (as stated in the article), or was it formed at a later date (i.e their volleyball team was founded in 1913, basketball in 1919)? Name

[edit]

Panionios G.S.S., is the name that the club call himself in their english website. The Greek name of the club, unlike other club use Π.Α.Ε. (literally FC), G.S.S. simply means sports club Matthew_hk tc

under the history section of the club, the club changed back to Panionios G.S.S. in 2006. Matthew_hk tc 08:32, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually Π.Α.Ε. (abbreviation for "Ποδοσφαιρική Ανώνυμη Εταιρεία) means Football S.A. (Football Société Anonyme). G.S.S. stands for Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Σμύρνης (Gymnastikos Syllogos Smirnis) meaning Gymnastic Club of Smyrna. Hansi667 (talk) 12:47, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Panionios G.S.S. is the name of the parent club. Panionios football team should be named Panionios F.C. Odythal (talk) 21:55, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GSS Panionios FCPanionios F.C. – I make a double suggestion Panionios G.S.S.-->Panionios F.C. and Panionios --> Panionios G.S.S. Article Panionios is referred to parent club that is named Panionios G.S.S and the article Panionios G.S.S. (recently moved to GSS Panionios FC) is referred only to the football club, therefore must be named Panionios F.C. Sakis Theodoropoulos etc.

[edit]

Sakis Theodoropoulos isn't real. The only thing on the I ternet referring to him is a joke (?) Facebook page. Related edits should be considered vandalism if repeated. Similarly, the squad section is fine in my hands, I follow the club quite closely. Any random edits of names, nationalities, squad numbers, captains, and who's on loan, without fact checking, should also be considered vandalism. I have to agree with Andreas. What is going on is ridiculous.

I tried couple of times to edit the team's roster, but as soon as I did someone (possibly Sakis Theodoropoulos himself?) undid everything and added the above name, which is nothing more than a hoax. On top of that, he keeps on messing up with the teams roster adding players that they don't play anymore for the team. This absence of respect towards the team and all it's fans is unacceptable.
