The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus on the alternative proposed dabs, as well as converting basename to dab page. (closed by non-admin page mover) – robertsky (talk) 14:55, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

– No longer works at Microsoft, need help finding a working title to disambiguate. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis ❄️ 14:57, 19 September 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. – robertsky (talk) 18:00, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

note that the prior discussion to the first relist was about moving Panos Panay (Microsoft) → ? – robertsky (talk) 18:03, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support - I agree with the proposed move, this page is about Panos Panay the person, not just the Microsoft employee. While he is most known (at the moment) for his work at Microsoft, it is very likely that he will continue to work in different positions and companies within the future. With this in mind, I propose that the new name for the page (in my opinion) should just be "Panos Panay" with the " (Microsoft)" portion being dropped entirely. This would allow for the page to focus purely on the person this page is about, and allow for any future career changes to be included in this singular page rather than having separate pages for the same person each time he moves to a different company.

@SonicDJM: Panos Panay a different person, who seems perhaps more primary topic or at they're similar, so I don't think this article should be be moved to the base name (perhaps both should be disambiguated with a disambiguation page at the base per WP:NOPRIMARY but that's a slightly different discussion to be had on Panos Panay's talk page, I believe). @Skynxnex: Ah, now this is quite the pickle we are in, we have two Panos Panay's that are both Business Executives and are pretty similar to each other, and yet undeniably different people. I do agree that page name for the other Panos Panay should be changed to clarify who is who, but how it should be changed is the big question. There are two potential solutions that I can think of that could remedy this issue.
• The first would be to have both pages use middle name initials for the page names. For example, our page would be named "Panos C. Panay" while the other page would be "Panos A. Panay". A minor change that would make a small but noticeable difference between the two of them.
• The second would be to replace the "(Microsoft)" part of the name with some big characteristic that distinguishes the two of them apart like, for example, "Panos Panay (Technology Executive)" for our page and "Panos Panay (Music Entrepreneur)" for the other one.
Granted, the ideal scenario would be to do both suggestions to both pages, but we would need to get the other page editors onboard with it. So in the interim, I would do the second option as a stopgap measure on just this page, and then once the other editors are okay with it, apply both options to that page and the first option to this page.

I mean, you could do either of those alternatives unilaterally, since this Panay will always be Panos C. Panay (and presumably a tech exec, although that may change) independent of what the other article is Sundhaug92 (talk) 22:38, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Relisting comment: in consideration of the proposed alternatives, as well as setting up multi-page move for the banner to go up on the other page. – robertsky (talk) 18:00, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Necrothesp's suggestion of "Panos Panay (technology executive)" and "Panos Panay (music executive)", probably as good as we'll get at this time. Skynxnex (talk) 21:23, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
