Pauling → Pauling (disambiguation) – Linus Pauling is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for Pauling. The only other potential candidate for this would be Ava Helen Pauling, but her name is derived from her marriage to Linus. Sharper {talk} 15:32, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose Tom Pauling etc. it's a surname. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:21, 2 November 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, it's a surname, but Linus Pauling is in my eyes far and away the best known person with that surname. I've already explained Ava Helen above, and Tom Pauling is the only other example listed on the disambiguation page right now, and he frankly is nowhere near as well known as Linus. The first full page of Google results for me are about the scientist, and dictionary.com and Merriam-Webster have dedicated entries for him using just the surname, showing that he is referred to by surname alone (like Edison for example). - Oppose per in ictu oculi. Common surname.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 13:05, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
- Only two other people listed there. Nixon (surname) has more than 100, and a less important "primary" topic. Peter James (talk) 22:14, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
