The Pink Panthers was also the name of a late 1980s gay organization that patrolled NYC in order to counter gay bashers. I'm not sure how to go about creating a page for that usage of the term.Rentstrike (talk) 17:21, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed[edit]

This article has several references, which are good; however, some of the facts in the leading paragraph conflict with the facts in the lower paragraphs. Mainly the numbers. In the first paragraph it says Interpol believes that the group of about 200 thieves come from the city of Niš in southern Serbia but then in the second paragraph under Raids it says, The gang is suspected of having at least sixty members, around thirty of whom are thought to be from Montenegro.[3] Several gang members are former soldiers with violent pasts.[1] They are fluent in many different languages and possess passports which have been given to others.[1], which should probably be edited out and put in the first paragraph. Origin of "Pink Panther" name[edit]

There appears to be a case of bad journalism abounding when it comes to crediting the naming of the thieves to the original 1963 "Pink Panther" film. This article, along with a couple sources such as the Daily Telegraph, refer to the original gag of hiding a diamond in face cream as occurring in the 1963 film. It does not occur in the 1963 film, but rather in the 1975 film "The Return of the Pink Panther." I have already found one source corroborating this, but I may say that I have also just watched the 1963 film, which includes no such hiding of the eponymous diamond.

Furthermore, in the David Samuels article provided as a reference, there is no link to the original film; rather, Samuels refers to "one of the Peter Sellers comedies, in which a similar dodge is used." Ns194 (talk) 17:14, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality coloured[edit]

Can people who change nationality of the groups give a reference on what they change? Or maybe there was a poll of 60+ people nationality? Origin of the Pink Panthers Group[edit]

It should be mentioned in the article that the group is widely theorized to have been started by members of the "Serb Volunteer Guard" of Zeljko Raznatovic Arkan, himself a renown Jewelry thief and of Montenegrin origins. Critikal1 (talk) 19:04, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
