Presidential Memorandum for the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security Regarding Military Service by Transgender Individuals by Donald Trump (March 23, 2018) → Presidential Memorandum on Military Service by Transgender Individuals by Donald Trump (March 23, 2018) – Standardisation with the previous memorandum to reduce an already long title.
Here are the titles for this memo and the 2017 memo compared:
- Presidential Memorandum on Military Service by Transgender Individuals by Donald Trump (August 25, 2017)
- Presidential Memorandum for the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security Regarding Military Service by Transgender Individuals by Donald Trump (March 23, 2018)
Their official names from the White House website are near identical with the removal of the subject line:
- SUBJECT: Military Service by Transgender Individuals
The "for the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security" is not unique to the 2018 memo. It should be omitted as in the 2017 memo's article, and the 2018 title standardized with the 2017 article title by changing "Regarding" to "on", as in:
- Presidential Memorandum on Military Service by Transgender Individuals by Donald Trump (August 25, 2017)
- Presidential Memorandum on Military Service by Transgender Individuals by Donald Trump (March 23, 2018)
These two appear to be the only articles on presidential memoranda. The sources listed only seem to refer to it as "the White House memo" or other vague terms. Other suggestions for one or both would be welcome. 93 (talk) 10:41, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support per WP:CONCISE. The current title is way too long. Rreagan007 (talk) 16:32, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support. Hyperbolick (talk) 19:17, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Could also be merged, replacing "memorandum" with "memoranda" and eliminating the need for dates. But in either event, the dates can be shortened to "2017" and "2018". Dekimasuよ! 02:41, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
- I like that idea. Rreagan007 (talk) 04:23, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support as per NCGAL. Impru20talk 13:17, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
