This article is written pretty much like an advertisement. Example sentences: "In addition, RS's largest facilities in the UK to provide some products to Europe directly thus ensuring the very highest levels of service." or "RS Components' catalogues are like wish books for engineers.". Also the whole article is written in a generally positive language. Not neutral in my opinion. I haven't edited the page due to limited experience with editing wikipedia. But if anyone wants do it would be good I think :)

Operations

RS components are not nice guys, I remember when I was 13 getting a letter from them pretty much accusing me of trying to con them because I didn't have the most up to date pricing information.

Some proposed changes

We would like to update the profile of RS Components by replacing the current introductory paragraph with the following paragraphs:

Hello LWSatECM, and thank you for your suggestions, and for not editing the article directly. I'm afraid I must decline your edit request because your proposed text is too promotional and does not adhere to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising, marketing or public relations, but the purpose of your proposed text is clearly to win over prospective customers and investors. As such, it cannot displace existing parts of the article unless it is substantially rewritten. The most obvious red flags are phrases that are frequently used in press releases, but are not appropriate for an encyclopedia. These promotional terms include but are not limited to phrases such as "leading suppliers," "wide range of value-added services," and "tailored product and service propositions." Hi DarthFlappy In our current introduction we do not say that we supply industrial products and solutions such as safety products. We think it’s important for this to be included in the Knowledge Graph for those searching for RS on Google to save them time. We have stopped producing catalogues so we think that point should be removed. We also think it’s important to let it be known that we operate in 32 countries. 32 countries is hardly global. Just an average company that selects a few markets. LWSatECM you use the term 'we' freely, it is not always clear who the 'We' are. Do you mean wikipedia or the PR part of the company?SovalValtos (talk) 12:07, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

The company supplies electronic components; electrical, automation and control, and test and measurement equipment; and engineering tools, and consumables via e-commerce, and trade counters in 32 countries and changed the (primary) ref. Not done I don't think that the addition of the "global" adjective is helpful or necessary. At best, its redundant with the last sentence ("RS operates in 80 countries"); at worse it is misleading (since 80 countries isn't quite "global") and subtle advertising. R S Components

Although there are many sites on the internet showing many aspects of R S, there does not appear to be ONE that mentions the many years they spent at Fitzroy House, Epworth Street in London. Can we please ask why? This does appear to be very disrespectful to the very many staff who worked there and helped to make it the company it is today. Can this please be corrected. Combine this page with that of RS Group plc?

Should this article and that for RS Group plc be combined? Neither is particularly long and both cover what is essentially the same subject. As far as I can tell RS Components is just RS Group plc's trading brand, much like Tesco (the brand) and Tesco plc (the company) which is all covered in one article. Allied Electronics could keep its own article as it looks to be more of a subsidiary.
