Talk:Ramza Beoulve
With respect to User:Roy Al Blue...
[edit]...But I feel rather strongly that this level of detail is a little excessive for our purposes. Final Fantasy Tactics, as much as I love it, is a relatively minor installment of the series, and this article does very little to assert Ramza's notability outside of the game. Mostly, it's an extremely lengthy plot summary, which doesn't really seem appropriate for an encyclopedia. I would like to request that the article be transferred to the Final Fantasy Wiki, and the redirect to List of Final Fantasy Tactics characters be reinstated. – Seancdaug 03:01, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
Oh? There is a specific Wiki for this? Then indeed, that is the correct place for this article. The only problem is I do not know how to do this interwiki transfer myself. Would I have to copy and paste, or is a page move possible? And even if it is, I am not a registered user on said Wiki. Would moving the page require this as well? On the same note, you caught me in the middle of doing something similar for Delita. Roy Al Blue 03:03, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, there's the FF Wiki. It works in much the same way as Wikipedia: same software, same registration procedures, etc. You can certainly contribute it anonymously, or you can register a username. There's no fancy automated way to do the transfer, so it's pretty much just a quick-'n-dirty copy and paste job. Some of the links may need to be modified (though there's not that many in this article, which makes matters simpler), and the image will need to be transferred as well, but that shouldn't be too difficult. The only other thing to note is that the GFDL requires that we make note of the contribution history: at this stage, since you're the only editor to have put any work into the article, if you do the transfer, it shouldn't require any additional effort. There's more detail on the process at Wikipedia:Transwiki, and I'm willing to answer any other questions you may have, as well. – Seancdaug
I just checked out the Final Fantasy Wiki. It looks much different then here, and it looks as though certain destination-less links will not allow editing (Alma, for starters). What's going on? I thought a wiki allowed viewers to edit most pages. I am wondering if this article will fare well on that site. Roy Al Blue 03:13, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- The way they've set things up is slightly different, and it can be a bit confusing. If you're doing a search for a non-existant article, there should be a redlink near the top of the results, in the line that says "Results 1 - 1 of 1 on this Wikicity for: ...." Clicking on it will take you to a "(There is currently no text in this page)" article, which just means that the article doesn't exist. You can then click the "edit" link and create the article as you will. To make things easier, a direct link to edit the article on Ramza over there is here. – Seancdaug 03:19, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
Oops, I followed the wrong link and ended up at the BlueShinra site, rather than the WikiCity one. That explains my previous confusion. Roy Al Blue 03:28, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
Transwiki
[edit]I have transferred the text to the Final Fantasy Wiki. I'll have to do the template separately. First I have to finish the procedure. Roy Al Blue 03:34, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
