Neutraily?

[edit]

This article reads to me more like an advertisement for the game than a neutral summary and explanation of it and its features. Perhaps it should be revised with a more neutral tone in mind? There is also quite a bit of repetition for such a short article. 68.14.78.180 (talk) 21:52, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article's "Notes"

[edit]

... make it abundantly clear why this a prime candidate for speedy deletion under criterion A7 (fails to establish notability). Notability requires both ends of a cause-and-effect ratio to be established by published, reliable sources—and blogs and forums and "in-game experience" do not reach that standard unless a recognized industry expert has published the data. I'm not quite ready to delete this article, but I cannot give the author(s) more than 72 hours from this point to make the case for inclusion in an encyclopedia. Without citations of sources that I can readily verify, it will have to go. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 18:42, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some sources have since been added. --kirbyjh 03:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An online game with 200K users and as many news article as this game has seems pretty notable to me... 81.110.14.145 12:07, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually we can't find a valid citation for the fact that there are 200,000 users.--Crossmr 15:18, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge debate (Utherverse, RedLightCenter, Virtual Vancouver)

[edit]

I do not beleive that this should be merged with UTHERVERSE. Utherverse is the company and this is there product, it would be the same as merging sony with playstation. --Vertigo315 (talk) 04:24, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately Utherverse has no notability outside of their product unlike Sony which has plenty of independent and reliable coverage outside of itself.--Crossmr (talk) 04:37, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Utherverse definitely should not be merged into this article. Utherverse is a general-purpose online virtual reality infrastructure company which offers to license its software platform to anyone so that they can create worlds on the same scale as the existing properties it hosts, according to its website. If you insist on a merge, then it should be the other way around: put RLC and VV under Ultraverse, but be prepared to keep adding more over time. Note that each "world" can be independently owned and operated, so you will eventually be collecting unrelated entities. --Parsiferon (talk) 19:05, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would also agree that they should not be merged. To reiterate, they are the company and its product. Although it has not yet occured, it is possible that Utherverse could offer more products that would cause a page split anyway. Why add to confusion by grouping and then later possibly ungrouping? As for not notable, that it exists and has a number of paying customers makes it notable. A simple Google search turns up pages of links, including reviews of the product. There are videos on YouTube about it. As other MMOs are on this site, it would seem foolish not to include this one. I may not be the greatest product, but we are not here to judge, only to provide information. After all, I came across this discussion looking for more info on RLC.

That's speculation and wikipedia is not a crystal ball. They currently don't offer more products and haven't established any notability for themselves. If we don't want to merge the only other option would be to delete the page on utherverse. Google isn't usable in establishing notability, nor are videos on youtube. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is also not a valid reason for inclusion.--Crossmr (talk) 02:07, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I does though it is also a forum board a dating web site and will soon support two worlds VV and RLC and if RLC has 700000 active users and it is required that you have an utherverse account that would mean that both utherverse and rlc have over 700,000 users this makes both not only distinct but notable.

An organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. All content must be verifiable. http://www.virtualworldsnews.com/2007/09/utherverses-wor.html http://www.vtoreality.com/2006/another-adult-mmo-hits-the-scene-utherverse/224/ http://mashable.com/2006/08/21/utherverse-is-myspace-for-sex/ http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS177351+02-Apr-2008+MW20080402 http://www.appscout.com/2007/04/the_new_amsterdam_an_interview_1.php http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_pwwi/is_200804/ai_n24972576/pg_1
