Image caption vs infobox

[edit]

Caption: "Riri Williams on the cover of Invincible Iron Man Vol. 3 #1." Infobox: First appearance Invincible Iron Man Vol. 7 #7 Obviously she didn't appear on the cover of volume 3 if her first appearance was in volume 7, and I'm sure this confusion is caused by the adjectives in the title. Can someone check the indicia in the actual comics and see how they're listed? Argento Surfer (talk) 16:59, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First appearance

[edit]

"Riri Williams made her first appearance in The Invincible Iron Man Vol. 2 #10 [....] Her first appearance was in Invincible Iron Man volume 7 #7, written by Bendis and drawn by Mike Deodato" - obviously these two consecutive sentences can't both be true, so which is it........? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 10:37, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm unable to view the citations at work (content filter), but since the #7 source is Bleeding Cool and talking about the book's value, I'm suspect this is a cameo/"true" first appearance debate. Again. Argento Surfer (talk) 14:01, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image

[edit]

I was considering the changing of the Ironheart article by displaying her new armor from the recent promotions for the Champions comic book series. UnathiJ10 (talk) 17:44, 23 May 2018 (UTC) (Comments copied from User talk:TriiipleThreat by TriiipleThreat (talk) 17:50, 23 May 2018 (UTC))[reply]

Armors change too often for these characters to use in the infobox. An image of the character under the armor is more consistent between stories and informative for readers. I would not oppose using a (smaller version) of the image within the body. Argento Surfer (talk) 17:54, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just because the character has new armor, doesn't make it appropriate for the infobox. WP:CMOS#BOXIMAGE suggests to use "the most universally recognisable appearance of a character," which is not necessarily the newest. WP:RECENTISM also suggests to avoid "focus on recent events".--TriiipleThreat (talk) 17:57, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As of 2023, yes, the new armor is the best image for the infobox. As it was said, it has to be "the most universally recognisable appearance of a character", which is not always the newest... and not always the original, either. Ironheart was created in 2016, and her original suit (visually almost the same as Iron Man's suit) was destroyed in Infinity Countdown: Champions #2 (2018). The new one was introduced some months later in Champions vol. 2 #22, and used it for the remainder of that Champions run, her solo comic, her solo tie-in to the 2020 event, Champions vol. 3, the current Iron Man comic, and even the animated series "Super Hero Adventures", "Marvel Rising" and the videogames "Marvel Puzzle Quest" and "Marvel Strike Force". The original armor was used for just 2 years, the new one for 5 years and counting. Cambalachero (talk) 17:26, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reception needs updated.

[edit]

Update the reflection section to show that a black famale writer is currently writing the comic. JonesyPHD (talk) 00:26, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The reception section is at the moment mostly about one variant cover. There needs to be more about the reception of the character. -- Beardo (talk) 18:35, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
