Wikipedia is not meant to be a directory of promotional articles for organizations, which must be notable in real-news terms beyond their mere existence. This article so far manages to be NPOV about its content, which I can't say for many enviro-org articles, but it also comes across as a brochure for the organization and actual noteworthiness of its activities needs to be better established; some of the external links are superfluous, e.g. the Sacred Headwaters one, albeit the Stikine is one of the rivers rising in the Sacred Headwaters; that wiki article was a downright tract and has since been purged of WP:SOAP. Its tone is still not that of a proper wiki article, however...this is just a first "sense" of it. But Wikipedia is not supposed to be a place to stump; it is an encyclopedia - not, once again, a directory of brochures for organizations to promote their existence with. Also I'll be adding hte IJC article as a see also, which is more than relevant (as the corresponding GO to the NGO) and I don't think there's a Pacific Salmon Commission article yet, but probably should be, ditto the Pacific Salmon Treaty.Skookum1 (talk) 12:20, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

I disagree that it comes across as a brochure in any sense related to promotion. It reads, if anything, like a directory piece. It does need more meat. Specific projects, successes, failures, support, people. What were the founding oranizations? Dankarl (talk) 14:24, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Directory piece, I suppose then, if only "promotinoal" in that sense; at least not fund-raising as such NGO pages often seem to be (Great Bear Rainforest had that problem). Agree about founding groups, notable accomplishments, persons etc...there were five or so other news articles here that didn't mention the group and were just advnacing news on its issues; other news copy about it is "out there"....and I'm still unsure about the Canadian categories to use here, as this isnt' a Canadian NGO, despite Vancouver "contact numbers/persons". There should probably be Category:Environmental issues in British Columbia but then again, this article isn't an issue, it's an organization....Skookum1 (talk) 16:09, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Skookum and others, thanks for the editing efforts to improve this new article. I see from Doctors Without Borders page that a direct link to their website is not placed at first mention of the title (Médecins Sans Frontières), and I agree, now, that it does appear like advertising. While it was intended to spark some interest in the group and ultimately its efforts, spamming or brochuring was not the intention. As to some news articles removed, protection efforts for the Taku River are directly related to protecting the commercial, sport and subsistence fisheries, so they seemed pertinent. Regarding the need for more links, references, verification etc., this is a work in progress. I am trying to maintain neutrality. Any help you can offer as additions and edits proceed will be greatly appreciated. Hobig (talk) 21:29, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

I would agree that the article seems a bit brochure-y, a lot of it is a very close paraphrase of RWB sites such as this. However, all the information seems to be pretty good, it just needs to be cleaned up as the current template describes. -M.Nelson (talk) 16:21, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

On a separate note, would someone familiar with the organisation please include some sort of link to Tides Center? The bottom of the RWB website states that "Rivers Without Borders is a project of Tides Canada and the Tides Center in the U.S.", and the Tides Centre website shows RWB as a Tides Centre project here.
