This is my first created article after I finally took the plunge and created a username, so I want to be sure it is very good quality. I was surprised this article did not already exist, as it clearly meets WP:POLITICIAN. There are a few touch-ups I plan to make tomorrow or the next day, but obviously anyone who comes along is free to improve it also! • Comrade Napoleon •07:24, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I'm not fully convinced that this article satisfies either WP:POLITICIAN or the general WP:PEOPLE criterion. Does an appointed state-level deputy superintendent of public instruction meet the requirements of WP:POLITICIAN? The three cited sources do appear to be independent of each other, but I'd prefer to see more non-Oregon sources in order to be fully convinced that this person satisfies the notability requirements. I'm also concerned that the article itself is trying to equally cover both Saxton and the Oregon state educational system (see WP:COATRACK#The Flea). I'm halfway inclined to nominate the article for deletion, but I'm hoping to hear from some other experienced editors first and see what they might think. — Richwales03:30, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I read the Oregon State Constitution Article 8. Section 1 makes the Governor of Oregon Superintendent of Public Instruction but within 5 years of the adoption of the Oregon Constitution the Oregon Legislative Assembly needs to provide for an elective Superintendent of Public Instruction. I am therefore incline to give good faith and keep the article as is because of the constitutional provision. The deputy superintendent is doing the administrative work. It is possible Oregon might switch back to an elective superintendent of public instruction unless there is a constitutional amendment changing this. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 11:54, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that being a state-level deputy superintendent of public instruction is notable in its own right, and that unless the subject of the article is notable for other things in his life I would be inclined to nominate the article for deletion. How is this section relevant to this person? It discusses a restructuring of education system in Oregon. It may be suitable to Oregon article, but I wonder if the info is suitable for this biography. --George Ho (talk) 18:24, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Removing Promotional Tone and Irrelevant Information
I made a series of changes today to remove the promotional tone of the article. I also removed quite a bit of content that was providing a history of the establishment of a position this individual occupied for three years. However, I doubt this article is sufficiently notable. I'll nominate it for deletion in a few months if no one changes my mind. QuintinK (talk) 05:08, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
After thinking further, the article "Tigard-Tualatin Superintendent Rob Saxton chosen to lead Oregon public schools" is sufficient to meet WP:GNG. The subject does not seem to meet WP:NPOL, but does meet GNG. QuintinK (talk) 21:07, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
