In this article, the native area of this plant is written as "Himalayas, East Asia, and eastern Australia".
In the Portugues article, it is written "uma planta nativa do Brasil".
In http://www.issg.org/database/species/ecology.asp?fr=1&si=500 the range is described as follows: "Native range: Asia, Australia, China, Taiwan. Known introduced range: New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Indonesia, Malaysia, La Réunion, Mauritius, Rapa, Hawai‘i, French Polynesia."
In the book "Frutas Brasileiras e Exóticas Cultivadas", Harri Lorenzi et al., Instituto Plantarum de Estudos da Flora, 2006 (ISBN85-867174-23 Parameter error in {{ISBN}}: checksum-2 ), it is listed in the secton of native fruits as abundant in the Brazilian states Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul.
Just a few days ago, I took pictures of a very similar plant growing by the road in the countryside in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
So, options that I can see are:
The introduced range should include large parts of Brazil
The native range is wrong and should include Brazil
There is a mixup between two species, of which one is native in Brazil and one in Australia and the Himalayas etc.
Unfortunately I don't know enough to be certain what is right. For now, I'll add Brazil to the known introduced range, as the species is known to be invasive. --201.13.31.37 (talk) 16:25, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
