Cuban American

[edit]

"Claudio grew up in Miami, and is of half Cuban and half Puerto Rican descent" - Question I have is if she is half Puerto Rican and half Cuban, how can she be "Cuban-American?" Being born in American makes her "American" and the other makes her of "descent." Changing in the intro but willing to discuss if someone sees it differently. --CNMall41 (talk) 06:32, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About that old Twitter account...

[edit]

I recently deleted the following text from the article:

In 2018, an old Twitter account which made racist statements was found to belong to Claudio. She issued an apology on Twitter before deleting the old account.[1]

I deleted it as part of a rollback where I saw that she had been described as "racist" in the short description and intro. Such a blanket description is unsuitable for those general placements and gives undue weight to the incident. The old account and apology might be suitable for mention in the body of the article, basically in the form above, and possibly adding more detail about the second apology. Fellow editors, what do you think?

Yes, using racist was very petty and unprofessional. They was simply no reason for it to be in that first line. I do think getting rid of the information about the twitter account is very biased towards her. Hiding information from the general public because it could hurt her is ridiculous. She did what she did, people can make decisions on which to listen to her after than on their own. It is not to hurt her, just to inform people reading on this wiki page about things that have happened in her career. There really is nothing wrong with that paragraph, especially if it was correctly sourced ~Mariam — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:341:301:1600:dd28:cc45:79b:82ba (talk) 20:25, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@C.Fred: I agree that she shouldn't have been described as a "racist", but it is also wrong to remove the information as a "shield" for her. I've added the information back with sources. VersaceSpace (talk) 13:39, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
