Well I guess the measure of greatness can be summed up with one word ( Humble ) That's right, Sam Mills was the most humblest person I had the pleasure to meet as a friend and high school team mate playing football for Long Branch High School in 1974. That was the year of miracles and new discoveries, and Sam was that miracle I discovered and became inspired by. You see; we had a camaraderie as a team of brothers and friends that went far beyond the game of football, we learned how to be men. Some of us had and didn't have fathers, and I at that time lost my father through divorce so the team was my brothers and fathers I didn't have at home. Some of the young men were Ace Cammarano, Burt Grandanite, Scott Reeves, Tyronne Farrow, Curtis Stevens, Tim Wilson and we had coaches like Mr Odem, Mr Yvonnovich, Mr Hall ect... One of the good memories i can remember is when I got into a one on one with Sam in the hitting circle, that's when all the players form a circle and two players would go at it helmet to helmet like rams. Well that's when i learned how it felt to be hit by greatness, oh; and spitting out dirt and grass from the field, oh; and turning my helmet where i can see again. Sam was a beast on the field of play and a gentleman off the field, I have never been hit and knocked around like that before or since, in other words Sam raised the bar and very few players at that time didn't want to see Sam raising that bar on them. It was weird you would figure someone so good would have a bad ego, not Sam, he was polite and respectful towards everyone. I learned a lot from Sam to be humble and respectful towards others as well. My name is Tim Scott, also known as Timo the bass playerTimo Scott (talk) 05:30, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Mills Birthplace

[edit]

I don't know why when you are born at Jersey Shore Medical Centers in Neptune, N.J. people get it confused with some place or hospital in Neptune City. When I was born there in, Neptune Township, that hospitals name was Fitkins Hospital, also in Neptune Township. Neptune City is another town that is a borough near Neptune Township. I attended Neptune Township High School and as a union carpenter helped to build an addition onto that hospital. Also I'm pretty sure that Sam Mills was born where I was born. Neptune, Asbury Park, and Long Branch African American people in that area of Mommouth County where ether born in Neptune or Long Branch at Monmouth Medical Center. From what I see many times as Neptune City as a birth place makes me wonder if mothers are going into labor while driving through Neptune City and just having natural birth inside cars, trucks, public transportation, and etc. They also write that Jack Nicholson was born in Neptune City also, and many more. I think that people that are supplying these facts are not able to distinguish Neptune City Borough from Neptune Township. 2601:45:400:2CC0:8818:726B:923B:C7C9 (talk) 01:18, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
