Images

[edit]

For such a visual topic, this article would benefit from more (free license) images. I'd especially want an image of skateboarding using a fisheye lens. There are no such images on Commons. But you can do a Google image search and select the Creative Commons licenses option to see what could be uploaded there. I don't have a strong preference about what image to use, but a photo (rather than a still from an actual video, which may not be found) would be acceptable.

Wil540 art, thank you for improving this article. Maybe you have some ideas?

Finnusertop great idea re:fisheye lens photo, or even a gif or video. I will see if I can find something. My friend Ted has a fisheye lens, so maybe we'll just make the content. --Wil540 art (talk) 18:57, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up this page

[edit]

This page needs some serious house keeping. I will try to fix it when I'm sober. Dr. Bongwater (talk) 11:18, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Producers section

[edit]

That whole section is a mess and needs serious help. Sentences which don't make sense/convey little meaning. Sections which seem to start and not end (spike jonze) etc. Dr. Bongwater (talk) 11:29, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Good point @Dr. Bongwater, this article in general needs a good scrub. I gave it a once over on the producers section and a little bit other places. Will take a look at the whole article again sometime soon. The Notable Skate Videos list needs work too, not sure what to include and not to include. Wil540 art (talk) 17:00, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the list is nowhere near exhaustive, I just added videos which are generally considered classic in the skateboarding community. Perhaps I should add a reason to the videos notability. Someone should also try to find a fisheye frame from a video, I will see if I have any of my old footage to upload possibly. Dr. Bongwater (talk) 19:27, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Are there any articles or books that list the most important / influential skate videos? That would make a great citation to the list. I will do some research about additional skate videos to add.
Good idea re: fish eye sample and uploading skate footage. I might have some to upload too. Wil540 art (talk) 22:55, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural significance of skate videos

[edit]

Perhaps there should be a section, (or part of the general description) emphasizing the significance and impacts of skate videos within the skateboarding community. Dr. Bongwater (talk) 19:45, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree @Dr. Bongwater. I think it is important to describe the influential nature of skate videos and how online video distribution changed and didn't change the way people watch skating. Wil540 art (talk) 22:57, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
