Give it up with the deletion
[edit]If Khia's site originally announced that this will be a single, and it got removed, (maybe Janet's label wanted to keep it a secret) then it probably will become a single, so there is no point in deleting the page, if it's just going to be remade this summer. --Thankyoubaby 20:50, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- But "probably will" doesnt mean it will - therefore the article is speculation. Wikipedia articles only reflect what has happened and speculation isn't allowed - so thats why I've listed the page for deletion (you can add your comments by clicking on the tag at the top of the article) Rimmers 14:50, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Request to lock article!
[edit]I would like to request this article to be be locked so new users or non-regesterd users can not edit the page due to recent vandalism. It might not be a bad idea to go ahead and lock Janet's other new song Call On Me. Alucard 16 6:32 PM 10/2/06
- Maybe before you start making changes of your own you shoiuld check you facts. [1] "So Excited" is clearly at #2, not 16. --Thankyoubaby 23:41, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Can some post the info on the physical relese of So Excited
Another album called So Excited by The Pointer Sisters
[edit]This article needs to be split out so as not to be ambiguous as The Pointer Sisters had an album of the same name out in 1982.
- When an article is created about that album then a disambiguation page will be created. Thankyoubaby 01:00, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
So Excited # 2 in Colombia???
[edit]For some reason, there's someone saying that "So Excited" is very successful in Colombia (it supposedly peaked at #2). Unfortunately, Janet doesn't do very well in Colombia. 20 Y.O. has done poorly in sales and neither of the 2 singles released so far, has received any airplay. So please, whoever is posting these lies, STOP! and if they aren't lies, then let us know which are your sources!! Moreover, Colombia lacks an official "music chart" or "singles chart." So where is this info. coming from??? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 200.118.77.233 (talk) 02:24, 12 December 2006 (UTC).
Doesn't Khia Have Her Own Version Of 'So Excited'?
[edit]I Know Khia Has Her Own Version Of So Excited. It Does Not Contain Little Or Any Lyrics That Janet Jackson Sings on her 20 Y.O. Album. I Heard A Sample (small) of the song's version by Khia and it contains all the lyrics khia raps in the Offficial So Excited. Why Isn't khia's version metioned anywhere? I really think it should be mentioned with a sub heading. Get Back to me on that right away!!!!!!! MicP 11:15 p.m., 1 January 2007 (GMT)
Khia does have her own version of the song, titled "So Exited: Khia's Nasty Remix Edit" that features NONE of Jackson's vocals, completely different lyrics as well as melody. It is not mentioned here probably because it was never officially released, and much less recognised. Although Khia did post it online, she never once admits to it in interviews where she berates Jackson for "using" her for 'So Excited'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.0.63.229 (talk) 23:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm picking off very old GA nominations I can do, and this is one of them. Sorry about the wait, and hopefully if you're around we can get this one closed down soon.
Lead
[edit]- The article is 8.5K of prose - for that you want the lead to be no more than 2 paragraphs. I'd trim some stuff down - possibly the songwriting credits and some of the video. I'll be in a better position to say what once I've gone through the whole article.
- "for Jackson's ninth studio album, 20 Y.O. (2006)." - might be more readable to say "released in August 2006 on Virgin Records as the second single from on Jackson's ninth studio album, 20 Y.O." If so, "The song was released as the album's second single on August 28, 2006 by Virgin Records." later in the lead can come out
- "which features breathy vocals" - this part (or at least "breathy") doesn't appear in the body
- "It also was successful in Europe, reaching the top ten in Finland and the top thirty in Italy." - what's the rationale for picking those two countries for the lead?
- "The accompanying music video for "So Excited"" - I'd drop "So Excited" here, from context we know what the video is about
- "and additionally was included on the 2008 Rock Witchu Tour." - I'd take out "additionally was included", as the sentence still makes sense without it
Comments on the body later. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:21, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- All Done
- Sorry, the second point is still outstanding. (If this is the only one, I'll fix it myself in a mo) Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:55, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Background and composition
[edit]- "with her then boyfriend" - personal opinion this, but I tend to associate "boyfriend" with something teens have, how about "partner"?
- "who was also commissioned to be the executive producer of the project" - suggest "who was commissioned as executive producer". Executive producer could also be wikilinked
- The first source (entertainmentafrica.mobi) doesn't appear to load correctly
- The last source in the first paragraph (sohh.com) returns a 404 ("not found") error, and I'm not sure how it is a reliable source as it appears to be a blog
- "with Hancock, Michael Beinhorn and Bill Laswell also receiving writing credits" - the source given does verify the sample used, but not the songwriter credits given. This should be easily fixable by duplicating the citation to the album sleeve notes.
- ""If you like it then I’ll do it/I’ll go head to toe" and "I'm-a keep your body thumping, baby"" - I can't find the exact text used here in the citation given
- The opinions in this section would be better suited to the "Critical reception" section below
- The track sample is too long. The sampling guidelines state "samples should not exceed 30 seconds or 10% of the length of the original song, whichever is shorter." As the track is 3:16 ie: 196 seconds, a sample cannot be longer than 19 seconds, so this is 10 seconds too long.
Have to nip out, hopefully I'll finish the rest of the review soon. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:43, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- All Done
Critical reception
[edit]- Do we need to link orgasm?
- Do we know if the picture in this section really shows this track performing? If not, the caption may need to be tweaked a little bit.
Chart performance
[edit]- I can't find where the new entry date for 30 September is cited, though the other facts are in the two sources mentioned
- Off-topic : Never realised Belgium did separate charts for Flanders and Wallonia. Interesting
Music video
[edit]- The first source is the SOHH one, which has problems, see above
- The Entertainment Weekly source said "There’s nothing goofier than being filmed while sensually eating a strawberry" - wonder if that could be included as part of the comments?
- What makes popsugar.com a reliable source?
- I think Khia's reaction should be toned down and trimmed quite a bit. I think per WP:BLP it would be better to just stick her negative reaction to what independent secondary sources say, not her Myspace account. I think we've all said things in the heat of the moment, and unless such remarks become widely distributed and noted, it's better to err on the side of leaving it out.
Live performance
[edit]- "a day before 20 Y.O. 's release in the United States" - there seems to be a newline problem with this, putting "'s" on a separate line on my monitor. Not sure how to fix that
- What makes popdirt.com a reliable source?
- "and new single "So Excited"" - I think "and new single" is redundant here
- Has she performed the track since 2008? If it's become a regular part of the setlist, that might be worth noting. Like the whole family, Michael's death would have affected her, so I'm not sure a song like this would have been appropriate after 2009 for a while ... or maybe it was? Still, worth seeing if we can just bring this section a little up to date.
Summary
[edit]- None of the issues here are particularly major - I'm reasonably confident even the sourcing issues are resolvable without too much difficulty. I'll put the review on hold pending improvements. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 20:19, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- All Done, thanks for the review Alex talk page! 22:05, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
- Just the point re the start of the lead outstanding, I've fixed that and can now pass the review. Well done. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:59, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Seçected regions? What is seçected?
[edit]"It also was successful in Europe, reaching the top ten and the top thirty in seçected regions. "
This sentence occurs in the second paragraph. What does 'seçected' mean? I have googled it and used google translate thinking it was a french word but nothing comes up.
Every occurrence of the word links me back to this article.
I assume the intended word was select, specific, or certain.
