  • What do you think about putting team logos next to their respective paragraphs. Not big, maybe something along the lines of the Phillies logo here, maybe a little smaller?--Looper5920 01:37, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moving wrestling para from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

[edit]

I removed this passage from the Sports section of the Philadelphia article, and would like to incorporate it here, but am really not sure how.

Philadelphia is also home to many great professional wrestling companies. The most well known and successful pro wrestling company being Extreme Championship Wrestling which ran in Viking Hall or the ECW Arena, a former bingo hall but is now being called the New Alhambra in South, Philadelphia. Philadelphia is now the home of many great independent pro wrestling companies such as Combat Zone Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Unplugged which also run at the world's most famous arena, the New Alhambra.

Not all of that actually passes notability, but some mention should probably be made somewhere in this article. --CComMack (t•c) 11:46, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Football: All Philly All-Century Team

[edit]

This recently-added set of lists takes up a huge amount of room and doesn't really say anything about sports in Philly except that there's a number of local kids who have had success in the NFL. I would suggest moving this list to its own article and leaving a link here. Spikebrennan 17:49, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Parenttime.jpg

[edit]

Image:Parenttime.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit]

The image Image:Baker Bowl aerial1.JPG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --14:31, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it from the article. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 15:09, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Philadelphia Soul

[edit]

With the Philadelphia Soul being reinstated into the Arena Football League in 2011, they need to be placed into this article somewhere. They also won a championship, the Arenabowl in 2008.--Cooly123 18:24, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

File:PPL Park 2010 Opener.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:PPL Park 2010 Opener.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

GAA in Philadelphia

[edit]

Should there be a section on Gaelic Football? I am not sure how to add this but there is a stub in existence detailing the sports governing body in Philadelphia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Division_Board as well as a link to the web-site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.250.189.37 (talk) 12:13, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Soccer

[edit]

Why is MLS counted as a "major league"? Most legitimate sources would say that there only four major pro sports entities: MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL.50.136.139.204 (talk) 19:51, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
