Confused history

[edit]

The QHR has what appears to be a straightforward history. An earlier timber church which is replaced by a brick church, the present St Mary's. The problem with this story is that was an earlier church called St Luke's which was brick, which was knocked down in a gale but rebuilt. I am confused as to whether there were three church, timber unnamed, brick St Luke's, brick St Mary's, or whether the timber church is the brick St Luke's. But at least this explains the dubious dates in the article as I think the history of these churches is being confused. If anyone knows the history, let me know. Good catch - and baffling. I just had a good look through Trove and came to the same conclusion, but couldn't prove it either. The Drover's Wife (talk) 10:06, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
