Park destroyed?

[edit]

In the Winslow, Arizona entry, the following passage discusses the destruction of the false front building in the park. Is this true? If so then this article should be edited to reflect such.--TGC55 23:47, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"On 18 October 2004, a fire destroyed the building and the park is closed indefinitely. As of 9 November 2006 the City of Winslow has come to an agreement with the owner of the property adjacent to the park, wherein the City has purchased the land. Plans are underway to clean up the lot, secure the wall, save the mural and restore the park."
"Monday, June 18, 2007: STATUS OF THE PARK - UPDATED 6/15/07 Contrary to some rumors that have been circulating, the Standin' on the Corner park is open for visitors. There was some damage done a couple of years ago due to a fire in the adjacent building however this has all been repaired, the damaged building was removed, and a new park area was installed." Wall mural incorrect

[edit]

The mural on the wall of the building that is supposed to be a reflection of the girl in the flat bed Ford slowin' down to take a look at him is incorrect. If she is driving the truck, then she should be on the opposite side of the cab.Tryoung71 (talk) 05:20, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is art, not science. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 19:47, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's supposed to represent a reflection, hence my statement. Tryoung71 (talk) 14:23, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just have a correction to make regarding the statue at the corner. With all due respect to Mr. Jackson Browne, the statue is not of him. It is simply a "generic" figure of a 1970s rocker in the style of dress popular at the time. I've been to the park and can flat out tell you the statue looks nothing like Jackson Browne. If it resembles any real life person from that decade at all I would compare it to Randy Meisner, original bass player in The Eagles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by B0h8ter (talkcontribs) 22:34, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the Jackson Browne part to what I found on the sculptor's web site. Check it out. Carptrash (talk) 00:46, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

'The park is surrounded by a wall of bricks..'

[edit]

If this was true, it is no longer so. The park has a single wall along N. Kingsley, according to Google Maps Streetview. There are windows to look into, but they extend only about a foot to give the impression of depth. Grandma Roses (talk) 23:13, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
