Purpose[edit]

The Stanford Dish was not constructed for radio astronomy, rather to detect Soviet radar via Moon bounce https://www.cia.gov/library/center-for-the-study-of-intelligence/kent-csi/vol11no2/pdf/v11i2a05p.pdf — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.116.73.108 (talk) 20:04, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I concur. The cited references (particularly the one from the era when the dish was constructed) are highly likely to be a "cover story" (see Disinformation). That reference (at least) is not a reliable source! (sdsds - talk) 07:31, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not continue to assert this was a "radio telescope." Please don't remove the "dubious" tag until you have fixed the underlying inaccuracy, or provide a reference supporting the claim that is was a "radio telescope." Respectfully, (sdsds - talk) 06:19, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed it to "radio antenna". Dan Bloch (talk) 08:38, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Removal[edit]

this page should not be removed because i'm currently writing my own information for it

If it's removed you can always recreate it once you have the information. It's not a big deal either way.--P4k 05:56, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio?[edit]

Most of this page seems to be taken from this site written by Evan Tuchinsky, although it's not clear if he also wrote the wiki page. Viriditas (talk) 15:52, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is The Dish Inactive[edit]

Driving past it every day on HW280, I notice it's oriented a different direction almost daily. Is it really inactive? If so, what's up with all the rearranging? Anybody know? In fact, this page, which the article links to, says the dish is actively used. I'm going to update the article. dimo414 (talk) 05:59, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
