Jewish, Polish or German?

The article states he came from "Jewish family" but the name sounds Polish. I would guess the family was Polish Jewish, through Gdansk/Danzig also had significant cultural ties to Germany (and thus German Jews?). I've added Category:Polish emigrants to the United States.
