Disambiguation[edit]

There should be a disambiguation page for Stephen Lee. The NYU chemist Stephen Lee, who won a MacArthur award in 1994, is better known in some circles.

Feel free to create one and write a stub on Stephen Lee (chemist)! All the best, <KF> 13:16, Dec 31, 2004 (UTC)

Other Activities[edit]

I removed some stuff about opening an obscure snooker club. Professional sportsmen do this sort of think all the time. If you really think it's notable, create a new article for it. --Auximines 23:38, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't really work that way. See WP:MERGE; it is specifically advised that things not notable enough for their own article be merged into or mentioned in other more notable articles. In this particular case, however you are right - the snooker club in question isn't one that he owns or founded, all he did was do a celebrity opening ceremony for it, a local town council-built civic center. It isn't even notable enough to be mentioned here. Anyway, I just wanted to address the idea that nothing can be mentioned in an article unless it already has its own article. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 19:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Tone[edit]

Speaking as a fat bastard the 'pie-faced potter' line cracked me up, but I'm not convinced that this is the right place for it.WombatDeath 23:23, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Tidy up[edit]

I've made some tidy-ups to this; got rid of some non-encyclopedic stuff (hairstyles anyone?) updated the references and specified where his high break came from. Ged UK (talk) 23:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Cheating?[edit]

"On 11 February 2010 Lee was arrested by West Midlands Police on suspicion of cheating, in relation to an investigation by the Gambling Commission over suspicious betting patterns.[9]"

You can't just end the story there! What happened?? KarlFrei (talk) 14:03, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Banned but oh what a lovely smooth cue action[edit]

Betty, you edit snooker articles much more than I do, and I was intending to unwatch this page anyway, but I have to say it reads a bit like "X is an imprisoned dictator whose charismatic speaking style has been described as among the most hypnotic of all time". Rothorpe (talk) 16:49, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

I've restructured some of the lede but I don't agree we need to provide a timeframe in the opening sentence since we have a whole paragraph chronicling the match-fixing and ban. We just need a simple statement of fact for the opening sentence. Betty Logan (talk) 18:03, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
You've fixed it, thanks. Rothorpe (talk) 18:52, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
