Need Better Photo of Mather
Pronunciation of name?
Two questions. Did Mather pronounce his name with a long a (as in "pane") or a short a (as in "pan"), or maybe as in "father"? Also, did he use the hard th (as in "bathe") or the soft th (as in "bath")? If someone has a reference, that would be a nice improvement to the article. PBS produced The National Parks: America's Best Idea. In two clips, the documentary uses the short "a" and the hard "th", so the name rhymes with "lather". I don't know how to insert pronuncation into articles, and I'm very new at references, so for now, I won't edit the article. If someone else knows how to do it, please do! That Bronze Plaque
I was just on a hike with my son near Chinook Pass in Washington: Lake Tipsoo. I saw the same plaque as in the photo. So if anyone is interested they could add that location to the page. Also, if anyone is interested I would be happy to upload my photo of the plaque I took today. Thanks, Tom H.
