Great surprise Schladming 1982 and other notes
[edit]It was a great surprise when Steve won the gold medal in the Giant Slalom. Being first after the first run he was able to keep his cool to achieve (and to beat Mr. Stenmark who was the great favorite - but Stenmark was only on the 5th place after the first run). Besides, it was a great surprise that he, Steve, was successful - and not his brother Phil.
- On February 14th, 1982, he was victorious in the Slalom of Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Phil was 2nd. He did the same in the giant slalom in Bad Kleinkirchheim (March 17th, 1982).
- A curiosity happened on January 16th, 1984, in Parpan: Steve won the race but he (and Phil) were disqualified: They mixed up their numbers - Phil had no 3, Steve had no 13 - but Steve started with 3, Phil with 13...They announced their mishap, maybe if they hadn't done nobody had realized...213.225.36.215 (talk) 12:34, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
