Actually it is quite insensitive. Education in the United Kingdom takes a huge slice of public revenue, and is a subject which generates huge debate. Sinnott lead the country's biggest teaching union, and was steering the first national strike for over 20 years, an action which affects millions of people. Wikipedia is a collective project, and I would strongly urge any contributor not to make a snap value judgement on the life of another human being. This is completely idiotic, what other NUT President is even listed on Wiki why this one person, the NUT article doesnt even mention any other person except Steve Sinnott, and then only the fact he`s dead. I think he is probably notable, as per people like Dave Prentis (also a trade union General Secretary). Also, the NUT is the country's largest teaching union, and often in the news. Paul20070 (talk) 11:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but some comments here are ridiculous. If Jodie Marsh deserves a page here then i'm positive Steve Sinnott does. He worked hard and tirelessly campaigned for education for all. He campaigned to help children and believed that if every child could be educated then it would change their lives. He worked with charities and also for the fair treatment of teachers. To say that him having a page is 'idiotic' is not only hugely 'idiotic' in itself but hugely insenstive to his family, friends and colleagues who knew him as a wonderful man. DOB conflict[edit]

There seems to be disagreement over his date of birth. The Times gives it as 2 June 1951, while The Guardian has 24 June 1951. I've gone with The Times for now until the actual date can be verified. Paul20070 (talk) 11:01, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Absence of other NUT leaders from Wikipedia[edit]

The only reason other NUT leaders (or Steve Sinnott when he was alive) have not been posted on Wikipedia is that nobody posted anything about them, not because they achieved nothing.

The logic of some of stevescollege's comments would seem to be that if he's not heard of a person or topic, or there's no Wikipedia article about them, then they have no importance - a clearly flawed point of view.
