Indy Superspeedway

[edit]

Indy is used as a superspeedway for NASCAR, and the drivers turn left only. Indy is used as a road course for Formula 1, so the drivers turn in both directions. The usage described in this article is the NASCAR use. Royalbroil 01:45, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pardons; I knew the Brickyard 500 used left turns, but I thought the Indy 500 used right turns. A google search has corrected me. --Golbez 01:50, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1 Mile?

[edit]

Is there some sort of document or web site that actually says that a superspeedway is one mile. I've always heard that a superspeedway was over two miles and a track that doesn't require braking as much as the others (i.e. Daytona, Talladega). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Raderick (talkcontribs) 09:28, 11 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

One mile or less would be a short oval track, in the American motorsport lexicon. --Chr.K. 17:46, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Goodyear Thunderdome

[edit]

The Thunderdome is not a superspeedway under the definition given in the article.
