Semi-protection
[edit]I've semi-protected this article as unsourced and poorly sourced material regarding the subject's death has been repeatedly added. Any such material must be supported by reliable sources to be included, and conjecture regarding a cause of death that is not directly supported by the corresponding reliable sources will be removed per policy.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:36, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Ponyo: Would you re-protect it please? IPs and new users keep adding Thompson's birth and death info even though this article is about the channel, not the person. Squeeps10 00:06, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
Not famous
[edit]The article created on his death day. He is "famous" only after a single event (his death), the article should be deleted as soon as possible. 91.83.11.7 (talk) 10:37, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- Being famous is not a requirement to create an article. Furthermore, this article is about the youtube channel, not the person. Metaquarx (talk) 12:26, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- Judging from this article, Thompson is the only famous or noteworthy subject. Take his life and death out, and what do we really know about this show? That it's about a bunch of things, ostensibly selected to appear more "random" to those who are into "randomness" as a comedy genre? That it has subscribers and views? It's a start, but it's no Grant Thompson. InedibleHulk (talk) 03:15, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- I don't know, if you Google "Nate Bonham", you'll find several articles and videos about this Nate Bonham. You won't for Calli, but still. Making an article about Thompson is a good idea, as there is certainly enough info online to, but this should absolutely be the main article, just as we have, say Good Mythical Morning, and Rhett and Link as a supplement. Granted, those two have done more than GMM, but you get the idea. Squeeps10 03:57, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- And if you look at the page history, you'll see that the article was created two days before the announcement of his death.Squeeps10 04:01, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- I don't see how anything about this Nate Bonham affects whether his coworker or his show deserve an article. Are there reviews of it? Crossover episodes? Netflix specials? And yeah, the article popped up after he died, but before it was confirmed. Still the same deal. InedibleHulk (talk) 04:50, 3 August 2019 (UTC)

- Rhett & Link have 150 citations. Not all to great sources or anything, but 150, with diverse headlines, suggesting fame. This person/show/channel has five copies of "Grant Thompson Dies", of nine total. Is Tubefilter a reliable source or just doing it for the money? InedibleHulk (talk) 04:59, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- There's no Wikipedia policy/guideline about it at all, but I'd classify it as "generally reliable". The articles I've read have all been correct, at least. And as for the "Netflix specials" comment, if we applied that criteria to all YouTubers, there wouldn't be any articles about YouTubers. And they've done collaborations with several other channels, if that's what you mean by crossover episodes. And I should know when the article was created, I wrote it. It was created July 27, 2 days before his death and 3 days before it was announced. And the channel has nearly 12 million subscribers and was covered in the press LONG before Thompson died. That in and of itself is enough to meet WP:GNG.Squeeps10 06:39, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Maybe just stick to any sort of info about the show, so long as that's the nominal subject. Currently treated as an afterthought next to Thompson stuff. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:35, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- That's what I'm trying to do, except every time I do it gets reverted. Squeeps10 21:56, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- Edit history seems to show just me reverting you lately, and that wasn't about the show. Try again, maybe? I'll rerevert anyone without a solid reason if they come back to foil your plans. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:28, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you. Squeeps10 22:52, 3 August 2019 (UTC)

Info about Grant Thompson in infobox
[edit]Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the infobox supposed to have certain info about the person behind the channel? Smosh, for example, has the birth info for both Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla. Ionmars10 (talk) 20:57, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right, however, TKOR was/isn't just Grant. It's Nate and Calli too. Not only do we not have biographical information about them, I've been in touch with Nate and he's made it rather clear he doesn't want any personal information revealed. I realize he can't really do that, but I feel like it's best, especially right now, to respect his privacy. WizardKing 21:12, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- It's almost as if this would be a lot simpler as a bio about one man who did three things. InedibleHulk (talk) 03:18, 3 August 2019 (UTC)

Article with good information
[edit]This article: https://simonowens.substack.com/p/can-a-hit-youtube-channel-thrive seems to contatin a lot of stuff that should be added to the article if someone here wants to add it.
Another reorganisation
[edit]Over Christmas 2023, the presenter changed, reputedly at the family' behest, to his son. Many postings appear to have been taken down, as well. 5.71.184.113 (talk) 05:12, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
