Possible merge?
[edit]I would like to suggest that the contents of Southern Cross Tasmania be merged into TNT-9 - and would suggest that "TNT-9" be the name of the merged article; from what I understand, the call sign is the preferred article title (see Talk:Seven Melbourne for a precedent of an article that was changed from, and then back to, its call letters). -Spiky Sharkie [ talk ] 14:02, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- Southern Cross television tasmania appears to be the name most people know the station by, TNT 9 is hardly known by the wider public. There is no reference to it when they broadcast....richard
- I know that is true, however I'm not the one who wrote the WP guidelines (and I know I was initially surprised, after being pointed to it) - even though no Australian commercial stations (apart from Southern Cross GTS/BKN) are known by their callsigns (see HSV-7 precedent above). This is why the individual capitals' 7's, 9's and 10's are still under call-signs, as is Southern Cross Darwin (TND-34). -Spiky Sharkie [ talk ] 07:14, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
TNT9 should definitely only be the redirect. No one knows it by that name it is always called Southern Cross TV (Tasmania). Guidelines should be altered if they're the problem.Mike
IMHO:
- Technically, TNT-9 should be the article name - if the article is to be about the history of the station in Launceston. It has been called that since its inception and is still called that now in Southern Cross Broadcasting's annual reports.
- Southern Cross Network or Southern Cross Television or Southern Cross Television (Tasmania) or Southern Cross Tasmania all refer to slightly different things, but are more recognisable. I would go with the last one of these.
Whichever is decided - the cut-and-paste copy should be fixed first to retain the history of the article - I might even do this now, just to make sure nothing is lost. -- Chuq 04:21, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Southern Cross.svg
[edit]The image Image:Southern Cross.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. TNT should be linked/disambiguated to the American cable station TNT as well
[edit]Hi. For tens of millions of American TV viewers (as well as Germans, Spanish and Turkish viewers), "TNT" usually means "Turner Network Television," so shouldn't this page have a disambiguation link to that page as well? Thanks.122.26.35.196 (talk) 04:38, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
