Lighthouse

[edit]

Isn't the lighthouse in Negeri Sembilan instead of Malacca? __earth (Talk) 03:53, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Historically yes, but legally it is an exclave of Malacca, which was inherited as part of the Dutch colonial posessions (the dutch light house). As was Naning which was used to be under N9 but was captured by Malacca in the Naning War.

Can anyone explain the history of the Malay name, "Tanjung Tuan?" I vaguely recall that it related to some feat (jumping the straits?) of a Malay hero (a Tuan). I have not returned since my childhood, but in the early 1960's there was a small temple at the foot of the path southward from the lighthouse down to the beach; as hard as it was to reach it back then, it was still an active place of worship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.251.89.129 (talk) 19:28, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
