List?
[edit]Hey. I thought I might find a list of notable tattooists on wikipedia. Guess not. Anyone mind fixing that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.191.117.208 (talk) 08:34, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- I apologize for the fact that it has taken this long to respond to this comment, but it still matters! That article exists at List of tattoo artists. PickleG13 (talk) 19:03, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
Style & jargon?
[edit]Page probably requires an overhaul with regards to style, as a somewhat conversational tone is adopted in places. The tattoo tools section contains a large amount of jargon which may be inaccessible to readers without prior knowledge of the field. An explanation of terminology, or less comprehensive listing, would address this issue Yeahyeahyeah989 (talk) 16:56, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Potential Improvements
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians, I will be working on this article for the next couple of weeks for my Technical and Professional Editing class at Texas A&M University. I hope that my potential contributions, along with your welcomed suggestions for improvement, will help this article get one step closer to being classified as an A-class article. Here are some of my ideas:
- The lead for this article is extremely short and doesn't really provide an accurate summary of the article's content, so this could be updated as the article is being edited.
- I believe that replacing the "Artwork" section with a "Popular tattoo styles" section would give the article some of the information it is missing. The section could link to other Wikipedia articles dedicated to a specific tattooing style, like traditional or tribal, which would give readers a more comprehensive understanding of the work tattoo artists do.
- Adding a "Famous tattoo artist" section, also with links to Wikipedia articles dedicated to a specific artist, could give readers some reference to examples of popular artists.
- Some of the terms in the "Tools" section are technical and may be inaccessible to the average reader, so this section should be revised using simpler language.
If anyone has any other ideas or objections - please feel free to disclose! I am open to all feedback and more than willing to work together to improve this article. Ands1234 (talk) 22:42, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
Moving studio section
[edit]Hello again, I am planning on moving the "Studio" section in this article and creating an entirely new article dedicated to tattoo studios, as I feel that this section contains a lot of really great information but not information that is relevant to tattoo artists themselves. I think the collection of Wikipedia articles would really benefit from an article all about tattoo studios. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Ands1234 (talk) 15:09, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- I informed the Wikiprojects listed above of this proposal. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 02:45, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose Don't really see much benefit. Johnbod (talk) 04:52, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
I wanted to further explain my reasoning for creating a separate article for a Tattoo studio, as I feel I did not give enough justification in my first post. This section is incredibly lengthy compared to the other sections in this article - if not moved to a separate article, I plan to cut down some of its content, unless there is opposition to that as well. This section contains a lot of information about studios themselves, but much of this information is not directly correlated back to what a tattoo artist is/does. I believe the Beauty salon and Nail salon articles provide somewhat of an example of what I am aiming for, which is an article that explains what a tattoo studio is, what services are offered, and the policies and regulations surrounding a tattoo studio. I hope this provided some clarification. Ands1234 (talk) 20:24, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
New section
[edit]Hello everyone, I plan to create a new section for representations (of tattoo artists) in popular culture, as I feel this article could really benefit from this. Anyone would be welcome to add content to this section. Please voice if you have any questions or concerns. Ands1234 (talk) 21:50, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Essay-like
[edit]This article was flagged as having the problem of being essay-like, such as in the form of personal reflections. However, this flag was placed more than a decade ago, and I no longer believe a general reader would see it as the case. There are certainly flaws in this article, but they are no more severe than any other article that has not been flagged for this problem. PickleG13 (talk) 18:59, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
