Congrats!
[edit]Our hard work paid off, it's up and running and it looks great! The only thing that I feel is missing is a few pictures. I know we concluded that we probably can't get any, but I'm just saying that we should be on the lookout. Oh, and another thing. Should we nominate the article for GA status? If Eggtown is a GA, then this article definitely should be! Corn.u.co.pia Discussion 02:40, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- We need to work on the lead paragraphs. I think the article's size allows for just the one image in the infobox. There isn't that much to read. Eggtown is better sources than this article. I say we work on the lead first, and then continue to shop around for about a month (so that this article can develop some stability, which is one of the requirements) looking for some more resources on anything related to this episode. Then, after about a month, I think we can go ahead and do a GAC. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 02:46, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess you're right. I'll be sure to be on the lookout, though I'm going on a holiday in a couple of days. Corn.u.co.pia Discussion 02:53, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's cool, we're in no rush. The article easily passes all our notability guidelines, so no one will attempt to AfD or merge it. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 02:57, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well I honestly don't see any way we can improve this article; though there is always some way... Anyways should we nominate it for GA? I think it's good enough. Corn.u.co.pia Discussion 10:55, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's broad enough to meet GA requirements. I'm sure there will be some copy-editing that will need to be done (usually is with most articles). I'd say go ahead and nominate for GA. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 11:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Nominated! Corn.u.co.pia Discussion 12:32, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- I saw. Now we just have to wait for some nice Wiki editor to come rip the page apart. ;) BIGNOLE (Contact me) 12:39, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I really look forward to that... Corn.u.co.pia Discussion 12:51, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Question
[edit]I was just wondering, when you put quote marks, it is like this: "I am happy." or like this "I am happy". (Note the full stop at the end of the sentence.) I've seen both versions many times, and am not sure which one it is supposed to be. Corn.u.co.pia ♥ Disc.us.sion 09:29, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Think of it like this, if the quote is part of the sentence then the punctuation goes on the outside of the quotation marks. If the quote is a complete sentence, then it goes on the outside. For example: According to Al Gough, the season one finale was one of the "best episodes". Millar states, "How can someone not like 'Tempest', it's got drama, action, and Remy Zero." --Does that help? BIGNOLE (Contact me) 11:04, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Nice explanation. Thanks. :-) Corn.u.co.pia ♥ Disc.us.sion 11:32, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
GA review
[edit]All looking pretty good :) Not too many things:
- Per WP:MOSNUM, ordinal numbers - i.e. 21st - should be spelled out.
- "season two and four" > "seasons"
- Why Jonathan and Martha's actors in the same bracket but Clark, Pete, Chloe & Lana's all separate?
- "Clark races off to make sure Lana is ok" - not sure on the spelling but I think "okay" or even "alright" would be more formal.
- Link Jeph Loeb maybe
- Template:Cquote should only be used for pull-quotes standing outside of the actual prose; maybe use Template:Quote instead.
- Also with current template two quotation marks are displayed (one set part of the template, the other edited in) but this won't be a problem if template is switched.
- "Construction coordinator, and production designer for "Tempest"" - why the serial comma?
- "Rob Maier had a lot on his plate" - a little colloquial; could we reword?
- "US/Canadian border" > "U.S."
- "who’s single" > "whose"
- "Although, Kristin Kreuk believes that Lana does not want to be jealous, but wants to be able to support Clark with his new found feelings for Chloe" - entire sentence does not make sense. Shouldn't be a comma at the start, for one.
- Do we really need ref 13? I think you've put it there to show that it's not original research but I'm pretty sure doing a simple maths equation doesn't call for an explanation. Your thoughts?
- "Attila Szalay received the second award nomination" - just confuses things to number the awards 1 & 2. Maybe just say "Attila Szalay was also nominated for..."
- "Brian Ford Sullivan felt the season finale" > "felt that"
- "Eric Moro, of Mania.com, believed that "Tempest"" - no commas necessary
- "another random episode of Smallville" - I think "random" is used in the colloquial sense here; maybe use a better word.
- I think refs 3 & 4 are using Template:Cite episode wrong. The "minutes" parameter is for the number of minutes into the episode that the cited event occurs (not the total length) and the "quote" parameter is for a specific quote from the episode (not an event).
That's it! I'm putting the article on hold so you've got 7 days to make necessary changes before GA status. Good luck ;) —97198 talk 04:06, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and multiple writers should be separated by line breaks in infobox. —97198 talk 04:12, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Cornucopia 2008 and I have made the changes. I prefer to keep ref #13, simply because it isn't as simple as "A+B=C", and I can see someone going "How'd you get that percentage". It's a better safe than sorry reference, IMO. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 04:52, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have inserted a picture, is that OK? Corn.u.co.pia ♥ Disc.us.sion 05:06, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Awesome - fixed in under an hour! The percentage thing is really no big deal and the image seems fine with the fair use rationale so I'm happy to pass :) —97198 talk 05:22, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
