Talk:Test Drive 4
Assorted comments from 2017 to 2020
[edit]Around the time of the game's release, its franchise was at the height of its popularity, outshining its arguably better-known competitor, Need for Speed, which it managed to outdo both technically and financially.[1] (https://web.archive.org/web/20021015154933/http://psx.ign.com/articles/152/152143p1.html)
Basically none of that is supported by the citation, or indeed any of the citations. The citation: doesn't say anything about the franchise popularity, doesn't say it outshines Need for Speed, doesn't say it outdid NFS technically (except for in recognisable cars!), and says nothing about how any of them did financially. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2406:5A00:9803:FC00:FD28:4183:981A:A728 (talk) 11:21, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
Yeah the whole article is a mess really, it also says "The game follows the same path as its predecessors by taking the player on a quest to win new tracks and vehicles.". This isn't how any of the previous 3 Test Drives worked at all, they had no unlockable vehicles and the tracks were only unlockable in the sense that it was an arcade game where stage 2 came after stage 1.
