Although Gniw wrote, "According to the official web site, the shortest name of the paper is simply the 'Register' so 'Catholic' should not be italicized" -- this is clearly incorrect. The Catholic Register staff does not highlight the name in that way, nor does the paper's flag or masthead. (Just because the staff occasionally shorten the name and refer to the paper as the "Register" to avoid repeating the whole phrase "The Catholic Register" over and over throughout an article does not mean that any change should be made to the way the official full title is presented.) Since the paper has undergone name changes over the years -- and there are other "Catholic Registers" in the world -- extra care needs to be taken to be clear about the full name of the paper.
