Manuscripts threatened by uprising?
[edit]Both this Reuter's article and this ABC news article suggest the manuscripts are under threat, also contains some more info to expand this page. EdwardLane (talk) 13:53, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
It's strange that these Islamists want to destroy all evidence that Islam was at one point a leading civilization. But there you are, they want to burn all traces that Islam ever allowed culture to flourish because in their view it should not. But then I assume Jack T. Chick would also blow up the Vatican if given a chance. The differnce between the harmless lunatic and this kind of evil desolation lies in access to small arms and a few thousand suicidal teenagers. --dab (𒁳) 16:06, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- According to the news today, the manuscripts have all been burnt :( I guess most of this article will need to go into the past tense now :( --feline1 (talk) 14:07, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
For those people up-dating the information about the destruction of some of the manuscripts etc. on this page: Please also keep the Timbuktu page up to date. Kdammers (talk) 02:02, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Past tense?
[edit]Why does this article describe the manuscripts in the past tense? It implies that there are no manuscripts left in Timbuktu, which would be a drastic and unwarranted conclusion. — ℜob C. alias ÀLAROB 19:31, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
