Retirement reason
[edit]Is there more to this than meets the eye? It seems odd to me that he would retire at the age of just 26 merely because of demotion to juryo - he's been there before. I cannot find any Engliah language media reports so was wondering if there is anything in the Japanese media that may have more details.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 14:15, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
There wasn't much detail when the news came out, but subsequently, now that I have looked there is a little more info. Here: http://www.nikkansports.com/sports/sumo/news/p-sp-tp3-20141217-1410079.html It reads more or less: He had been thinking about quitting for 2 years, having talked with it to various people including his parents. His continuing wishy washy sumo was too much for him and he finally made it very clear to his oyakata he wanted to quit. His oyakata said, "I should've realized more how much he was struggling inside. It still took about 4 hours of talking for him to convince me he was set on quitting." He is not planning to stay on in the sumo world and will have his retirement ceremony next year January 31.
If you would like to use some of that and make a reference, please do.~ ~ ~ ~ (talk) 20:42, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
