[edit]What you see on this page was in fact but an incomplete work sheet intended for insertion into the "Paris" article. In spite of this (it shouldn't have been moved) I've decided to leave it where it is, as it is much too elaborate as it is for inclusion where it was intended to go. I have not had time to source everything and finalise editing, so there may be errors. ThePromenader 19:53, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- Well, I think it's a good start! Evidently there is still some cleaning up to do and a lot of fleshing out to make this a full blown article. Fortunately there are lots of good models to look at, like Transport in Melbourne :) But definitely worth of a whole article. PS The first sentence should probably have Transport in Paris somewhere if possible. Stevage 00:08, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you. Yes there is a lot to do here and redoing the intro is just a start. Happy holidays and see you... next year? Cheers! ThePromenader 17:05, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Chronology
[edit]I thought this might be useful here - this page, after all, will be an overall "doorway" to more elaborate pages on each subject (Metro, RER, CDG, etc) so I thought an overall reference might have its place here. This is from my earlier Ceinture research and I will post its references later. Cheers. ThePromenader 17:58, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Bicycles
[edit]Paris has a major new bicycle initiative; bikes in general should be covered here. -- Beland 04:02, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Article move proposition => "Transport in the Île-de-France"
[edit]I think this article would be better adapted to a "Transport in the Île-de-France" title. Little, if any, of Paris' transportation is limited to the city itself. Any opinions on this? THEPROMENADER ✎ ✓ 19:47, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
- Right you are. 'Transport in the Paris Region' has my vote, too. THEPROMENADER ✎ ✓ 13:39, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- I had a chat over on the Tramways in Île-de-France article, and it seems that there's some sort of "X in (official placename)" rule in effect... this seems geared more for wikipedians than readers, but whatever, I think it's a good idea to keep some homogeneity between articles. I say we just keep editing 'as is' and see how things develop. THEPROMENADER ✎ ✓ 21:31, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
History Last?
[edit]I hope you don't mind me tweaking the history section, and giving some context (and dates - it's complicated, I know) to the Petite Ceinture section.
But what do you think about putting the history section last in this article? I think the majority of readers would come for information about Paris' modern modes of transport. THEPROMENADER ✎ ✓ 11:16, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- Sure, why not, assuming that there will be more information in the earlier sections. At the moment it's pretty empty. Also, I think the images in the lead should include the Metro, tram, and RER, not just the Thalys. If you agree I can do that. SiefkinDR (talk) 11:26, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- No need to even ask about adding stuff (yeah, I know ; P) - I was only worried about moving your just-added history edits (to a first-level title at the end). I guess the 'ancestor' to whatever mode of transport can but an in-sentence mention for whatever mode of transport is being discussed in the lede. I'm actually wondering if the history (of Paris transport) section won't eventually become an article of its own (just leave something present-sized here, and flesh it out in the separate article)... there's certainly a 'niche' for that interest, anyway. - P.S.: I'm done editing for now, so don't worry about me stepping on your toes ; ) THEPROMENADER ✎ ✓ 11:50, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
